 Zhan POV

The kids waited in the car as I went back to the restaurant to retrieve the jacket Lucy forgot; I'd decided to take her and Sizhui out for lunch. It was nice to see them smile and have a good time.

I came around the corner into a very busy aisle when I saw something that made me stop in my tracks. Yibo and uncle Zhu sitting together at the window of a restaurant on the previous floor. I put my hands on the railing studying them closely.

Uncle Zhu didn't tell me he was in Macao, but he did once mention wanting to come. Why didn't he tell me he had arrived, unless he didn't want me to know, and him meeting Yibo? What was that all about?

He has grown to love Yibo as much as me, but why wouldn't he want me to know he was meeting with him. I pulled out my phone and called him. I watched him check the ID "Zhan its so good to hear from you." he said kindly, "I heard you're in Macao, where are you? We should get together." I said.

I saw him cover the phone and say something to Yibo, and then he replied. "I'd love to but I went straight down to Wenghan to visit an old friend. I'll call you when I'm back in the city and we'll chat then" he said and I nodded to myself. That was the confirmation I needed.

Whatever reason that brought them together and whatever they were talking about, they surely didn't want me to know about. "Okay uncle, bye." I said and hung up, putting my phone back in my pocket and I watched him do the same.

I got the thought that Yibo is the one who called him. I knew he was loyal to him and if he asked him to keep their meetings a secret he would oblige. I shook my head the things we do for this man, myself included I thought pathetically. We can't even help ourselves, so I couldn't fault him. We all loved him and if loving him was a disease then I caught the absolute worst of it.

I then remembered Ziyi's words He's hiding something,

The more I thought about it the more her theory made sense; I pulled out my phone again and called her. "Hello." She answered, "Hello Ziyi it's Zhan." I said, "I think you might be right about Yibo hiding something. When can you come to the estate? We need to talk." I said, watching the pair in the restaurant talk.

"I'll be over later today." She said, "I'll see you then." I said and hung up. I took one last look at them and walked the other way.

Ziyi came over later that afternoon and we went to my study after she said hello to the kids, I closed the door behind me and she settled on the sofa.

"I was surprised when you called me," she said, "What brought on the sudden change of heart?" she asked. I walked over to my desk, settling onto my leather chair.

"I saw him and my uncle Zhu at a restaurant earlier today." I said and her eyebrows shot up. "Isn't he supposed to be in Beijing?" she asked. "Well he decided to fly in to meet him and not tell me about it," I said and she took a moment to think. "You think your uncle is involved?" she asked.

"No, I'm saying he's trying to get him involved in whatever is going on." I said, "What I cannot understand is how Xuan fits into the picture." I added.

She stood up "My theory is that this whole they slept together a story is a cover-up from what's really going on." She said and my gaze narrowed. "If it is just a story, why would he agree to telling it? And why Xuan of all people?" I asked, "Zhoucheng told me that you and he don't really see eye to eye and that he's always out to get you," she said and I nodded, that much I knew very well.

"Well, maybe he blackmailed Yibo into lying to you." She added and my brows furrowed, that made no sense. "With what? Xuan has nothing to blackmail him with." I said unless he had a double life I never knew about which is very unlikely.

"Think about it, Zhan. Yibo is the most selfless person I know. You think he'd care if he threatened him directly?" she said and I leaned in, resting my forearms against the table. "You think he threatened someone he cares about?" I asked and she nodded.

"And there's no one else he cares more about than you and your kids." She said and I shook my head "Xuan is not stupid enough to threaten Sizhui and Lucy." I said, unless if he wanted to die.

"Where do we go from here then?" she asked. "Right now we're just working with assumptions. We need to get the truth out of him." I said, "And you're the only person who has a chance at doing that." I added and she shook her head.

"I've tried Zhan, he wont budge." She said exasperated "Try harder Ziyi." I said and a smile played on the corners of her lips. "You never really gave up on him, did you? You never believed he did it either." She said and my gaze shifted "I'm just trying to find out the truth." I said.

"Admit it, Zhan." She said and I threw my arms up "You want me to admit it? Fine, I would like to believe what he told me is just a lie. I would like to believe I know him well enough to know he'd never betray our love like this." I said and she grinned.

"Alright, I'll help you." She said holding out her hand "Whatever it takes." She added and I shook it nodding.
