Some days he punched a wall until his fists bled. Others, he sat silently on his love's grave.
But no matter the day, no matter the emotion, he would always get on the court to live up to that one last promise.
Day after day, night after night.
He began living by a new motto—or saying, so to speak—that he found in an old notebook; a day only lasts for as long as you're awake to experience it.
Sure, it sounds a bit cheesy—cringy, if you will, but special, nonetheless.
These words now etched in his memory, driving his everyday promise, were thought up by none other than his late lover.
That old notebook, really a log for anything volleyball, hid in its pages multiple phrases just as the previous.
However, that one page stood out. The one with big letters and little drawings of volleyballs.
Yeah, the one that forced his emotions to overflow, almost ruining the book with tears.
There's no true way to describe it to you so why don't I state it directly?
"!! A Day Only Lasts For As Long As You're Awake To Experience It !!
(I'll wake up extra early every single day to beat Kageyama. I swear, one day we'll play on equal terms. I'll surpass him, I know I will)"
The discovery of these words caused a spark in him.
Kageyama now used every second of every day making sure to fulfill the promise he once made.
Even though his body has become tired.
Ill, even.
He hasn't stopped.
He won't stop.
It gotten to a point of insomnia; he can no longer sleep when he wants.
Day and night ceased to be separate.
There was only the clock and time. 24 hours a day; that is all he has.
He must stay awake and practice, must experience every moment to the fullest..
