"You want some?"

"That bread had mold on it three days ago"  I muttered. I carelessly glanced over to my phone to see Rafes name flashing on it and quickly turned it over making Jj scrunch up his face.

"Who was that?" He wondered, licking the peanut butter off the knife.

"Nobody." I lied, he raised an eyebrow. "Your lying."

"you got a boyfriend we don't no about, or sum shit?" He half jokes, I look down to my feet and jump off the counter. "Just drop it." I mumble walking away from him and into the dinning room.

"JJ!" kiara called his name. I pulled my chair out taking a seat beside John B. "Yup. Yeah. Let's do it" Jj declared running in and standing behind me.

John B gave me an asking glance and i nod. I grabbed the envelope ripping the card stock open. From behind me I heard JJ gag spitting out the remainder of his moldy sandwich into his hand. I crinkled my face in irritation before looking back at John B and continuing. I stuck my hand in bringing out a piece of paper. I unraveled the paper from its four folds laying it down flatly.

"Holy shit" I whisper. "X marks the spot" I noticed the envelope didn't look flat, "i think there something still in there." I informed them. I stuck my hand in feelimg a tape recorder.

"What is that?" JJ asked peering over my shoulder.

"It's a tape recorder, Dumbass" I remarked flipping the small black box over observing it. "play it." John B said curiously.

I positioned the box down in front of us before pressing the button in the middle.

"Dear Bird and Bean.."

"Who's that?" JJ wondered.

"John B and I. it's what dad used to call us, I'm bean." I explain, letting our father go on.

"I hate to say I told you so but I told you so and you doubted your old man. I suspect this moment, John B is feeling guilty for our last fight, but don't kill yourself yet kid I didn't expect to find the merchant either."

There was a long pause, I looked up to see John B looking back at me with a blank expression.

"And to my youngest daughter, You have every right to call me out, bean. When we had that argument about your mother. That's wasn't your fault I wasn't exactly father of the decade." He said making me shift uncomfortably, Kiara placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder and shot me a tight smile.

"Now hopeful we're listening to this in our new sugar shake in Costa Rica living on past investments if not—" he continued, I could hear my dad fiddling with metal in the background. "—if not that's what the map is for. There she is the reck of the merchant if something happens to me finish what I started, go for the gold kids. Oh and take care of bean, Bird. she needs you. I love you kids even if I didn't always act like it."

"See you in the other side" he finished clicking off the recording.

I starred at my hands in disbelief as his words vanished and his voice disappeared. I didn't know what to think, or how to think it was like in these five minutes my whole life had been turned upside down. I could feel a panic attack coming on.
