you woke up, the last couple of days were though. you always wanted y/n to love you, but her confessing she was falling for you was not in the way you expected it to go. you respected her wishes and left her alone to think for a while, giving her the space she needed. but as the same time you really missed hanging out with her. you got up out of bed and walked to your closet to grab some clothes. your eyes fell on the calendar and you saw a little star drawn by the date of tomorrow. tomorrow was y/n's birthday. you got dressed and quickly ate breakfast.
you were going to look for Steve to ask if he maybe wanted to help throw a party for y/n. you walked over to their room but he wasn't there. you went to check in the gym, he was probably already working out. you looked thru the door opening and saw Steve working out, damn his muscles were only getting bigger, how was that even possible you thought to yourself.

"hey Buck" Steve said as he spotted you looking at him. "hi Steve" you said as you walked up to him. "what's up?" he asked you. "I was thinking, since it's y/n's birthday tomorrow, if you would like to help me throw a party for her" you asked. "wait, it's her birthday tomorrow?!" Steve asked you surprised "why didn't she tell me". "because she kind of hates her birthday" you answer. "why?" Steve asked. "well because she was kinda kidnaped, and her birthday made her always think back to her family which she couldn't remember" you reply, remembering the sad and lost look in her eyes back at hydra. "well, than let's give her the best birthday party ever" Steve said smiling at you. "I'll go change real quick, than we can go get stuff at the store" Steve said already walking towards the door. "alright, I'll go ask tony if we can use the Livingroom tomorrow night than" you say back at him before you walk over to Tony's office.
you knock on the door. "what do you want Barnes?" Tony said looking a bit irritated at you. "i just want to ask you if it's okay if we throw a party in the Livingroom tomorrow night?" you ask him. "what party?" he asked. "your daughter's birthday party?" you ask surprised he didn't think about that. "oh shit" you heard him say under his breath, which he didn't realized you heard because everyone always forgets super soldiers have the ability of super hearing. no way, did he really forget about his own daughter's birthday. "oh that's alright, we can use the Livingroom for it tomorrow night" he said acting like he didn't forget. "okay thanks Tony" you say as you walk out. "oh Barnes, do i need to arrange anything else?" he asked you. "no need, Steve and i are gonna fix everything, just make sure you are there tomorrow evening" you say looking at him making clear you knew he forgot about her birthday. "don't worry barnes, I'll be there" he said before you walked out of his office. you walked to the Livingroom where Steve was already waiting for you. "let's go" you say to him and you drove to the store.
you bought the food and drinks and some balloons to dress up the Livingroom a bit. you wanted to keep it simple, she probably like it more when it was just a small party instead of the party's Tony usually throws. you and Steve decided to grab a coffee after all the shopping and sat down on a bench in the park. "i still can't wrap my head around all these flavored coffees, i mean what was wrong with the normal one" you say to Steve. "right! and the ridiculous amount of money it costs now, what did we pay for it back in the day 20 cents, now its 5 bucks" Steve said back. you smiled at each other thinking about the good old times, and you had a feeling you haven't had in years, a feeling you thought didn't exist in you anymore. "are you alright?" Steve asked you as your expression changed. "yes, i'm alright" you say back smiling at him. "how the times have changed" you say sighting. "hahah that's one way to put it, you sound like an old man" Steve said laughing putting his hand over your shoulder pulling you a bit closer to him.
