the plane lands next to what used to be an hydra base. you couldn't remember anything from that day but somehow you recognized the place, like it was something you dreamed about. you looked at the rubble, now finally realizing that somewhere under it was y/n's lifeless body, if there even was a part of her body left.

your eyes filled with tears at the thought. "you sure you want to do this?" Bucky asked you. "yes, we need to" you answered drying your tears. "what are we looking for?" you asked Tony. "anything that might get us closer to hydra. they blew up the place, which probably meant they wanted to destroy something in it" Tony replied. "let's get searching then" you say.
*bucky's pov*
you have looked for hours and still found nothing. you were really worried about Steve, how he reacted to y/n death. it worried you he hadn't showed that much emotion yet, yes you saw he was hurting but instead of dealing with it he focused on work. you walked thru the rubble when you saw something reflect the sunlight. you walked up to it and tears streamed down your face as you picked it up. it was y/n's star necklace you gave to her, that night. you held it in your shaking hand looking at it. remembering her beautiful smile, the memories you made with her. "Barnes did you find something" you hear Tony yell as he sees you looking at something. "yes, no" you say, Steve came walking up to you. when he saw what you were holding he hugged you tightly as you cried.

then you saw something in the corner of your eye, her communication device. that was weird it was still on. you let go off Steve as you dried your tears and picked it up. "i found something" you yell at them. Tony came running up to you. "it's her communication device, but it's still on" you say. "hmm that's weird" Tony said. "what's weird" Steve asked. "it's weird that it's on, because she didn't react when Tony called her over the comms" you explain to Steve. "maybe she lost it on her way out" Tony said trying to make sense of it. "no because i found this almost next to it" you say showing Tony the necklace. "we need to get this back home, so i can see if there's anything useful on it" Tony said as you handed it to him. your eyes look at the necklace again, maybe she wasn't dead. you just got the feeling she was alive, you didn't know why, but something inside you told you she wasn't gone. or was it just your coping mechanism fooling you.
