chapter 45 {end of half the world}

you drove home and immediately put on the news, which only made you freak out more as they told that Tony was missing and that there was an alien spaceship seen above Africa, meaning they found them. as you were freaking out your phone vibrated, you had a text from Grant. [hey saw the news, are you okay?].[no i'm freaking out] you text him back. [ you wanna go for a run in the park, that always helps me take my mind off of things] Grant texts you. [yeah that would be nice, see you in 30 in the park?] you text. [great, see you there] he texts. you quickly changed into sport leggings and just a sports bra, because it was quite warm out, especially for late April.

you walk to the park and see Grant already waiting for you. "hey" he says pulling you in for a hug. "hi" you say as you let go of him. "how are you holding up?" he asks you. "barely" you reply "i really wanna take my mind off of it for now". "let's go then" he says running away and you run after him. you run next to him, he was quite fast for a normal person. you look over to him "is this the fastest that you can?" you say jokingly. "oh you wanna race me, you're going to lose you know that right?" he says teasingly. "oh we'll see about that" you say as you sprint away, you run for a few minutes and you slow down as you see he can't keep up with you. "wow you're really fas-" he says as he's close to you but he doesn't finish his sentence and stops in his tracks staring at your back. you don't realize what he's looking at, until he asks. "did, did they do this to you" his fingers softly trace your scars on your back. you nod. "motherfuckers" he says under his breath as he hugs you tightly.

you wrap your arms around him, holding him close. but then you feel a weird sensation in your hands. you look up to him "y/n?" he says confused as his hands disappear. "Grant what's happening" you ask scared as you start to freak out. his arms turn into ash "Grant!" you scream. "no, no Grant!" you scream as your eyes start to water. his whole body turns into ash falling to the ground. "noo" you scream. you look around you and see more people disappear, you look at your hands waiting for the same to happen to you but it doesn't. what the fuck was happening.

you run to Peppers house, hoping she and Morgan would still be there. you burst the door open and luckily you see Pepper sitting on the couch and Morgan crying in the background. you look at Peppers shocked face. "thank god you're alive" you say rushing over to her. "she's gone" Pepper says. "who?" you ask her. "May she, she turned, she" she said "she turned into ash" you finish for her. she looks at you with sad eyes as to ask how you knew "Grant disappeared too" you say before picking up Morgan and rocking her, trying to make her stop crying wile a tear rolled down your own face. you were scared, who else disappeared, please let them still be alive.

you stayed at Peppers place, helping her with Morgan and so you could be here for each other. you had heard on the news that half of all people had despaired. the whole world was freaking out, random people were despairing, splitting up families as parents and kids disappeared. you were freaking out too, because if it was at random there was no way all avengers where returning, you just didn't know who would and wouldn't which terrified you.

you and Pepper sat on the couch watching a movie together. Morgan had fallen asleep in your arms. then Pepper got an automatic message the jet was close, they were going to land in half an hour. you put Morgan in her bed before you ran to the car rushing to HQ. you waited for 10 minutes which honestly felt like hours. you were scared, now you were gonna find out who survived and who didn't. the jet landed and you were staring at who would come out. first Bruce came out, Happy, Natasha, Thor and a few other people followed. tears started to well in your eyes as you didn't saw Steve at first, but then he came walking up behind him. you looked at him. his eyes were red from crying, fuck this wasn't good.
