Chapter 17

Josie continues on with work. Now that Rebekah has said she will be watching her, she has to make sure everything she does is better than perfect.

Hours go by and Josie is still working.

"Hey are you ever gonna take a break?" Jade laughs.

Josie looks up to see Jade leaning on the side of her desk.

"When it's lunch time yes." She continues to fill in a sheet.

"Well then you should be taking a break now." Jade looks at her watch and then back at Josie.

She looks at Jade confused and then she looks at her own watch and sees that she should have been on her lunch, ten minutes ago.

"Oh right. Thank you." She closes her laptop. And bolts out the door.

"Did you want to eat with-" Jade sighs as she sees the girl get out of earshot. "Me." She whispers and heads out herself.

Josie steps out of the elevator and makes her way to Hope's office. She lifts her hand to knock but stops. Laughter can be heard from inside. She shakes her head.

'It's not right to snoop.'

She knocks twice, waiting for a response."Come in." She hears from inside.

She opens the door and walks in. She sees Hope sitting in her chair smiling, and then she sees Rebekah Mikaleson smiling as well, it's for a brief moment but she catches it before it fades as the woman realizes who's at the door. Her face goes back to what it usually looks like, serious, like when she looks at Alyssa.

"Sorry I didn't mean to interrupt. I'll leave you alone." She reaches for the door but doesn't get there.

Hope grabs her hand gently and turns her around. Josie gasps in surprise as she faces Hopes blue eyes, and a small pout in place.

"No. Please.... Stay," Hope asks. She intertwines their fingers together. "She was just leaving." She continues in a soft voice.

She then faces Rebekah and says, "Isn't that right Aunt Bex?" She gives her a knowing look as she speaks while nodding her head towards the door.

Rebekah stands up and says, "Right. I was just leaving," she gets to the door and  right before she closes it she yells, "and don't forget what I said!"

Hope just rolls her eyes and brings Josie in for a hug. Josie sighs as the scent of Hope overwhelms her senses. A smile tugs at her lips as she wraps her hands around the girl.

Hope pulls away first and pecks Josie's cheek. Leaving both of Josie's cheeks burning hot at the touch. She smiles at the reaction, and brings Josie with her as she sits down.

Hope doesn't sit in her chair, instead she sits next to Josie in her other chairs, that face the one she normally sits at behind her desk.

"What did she say?" Josie asks, as she takes her seat. Curiosity getting the best of her yet again.

"Oh that. It's nothing." She replies. Josie looks at her in disbelief, her eyebrows raise in suspicion.
