Chapter 35

"Hey Josie, how have you been?" Landon says.

"Hey." She replies before taking a seat at her desk. "I've been really good." Her thoughts immediately trail to how well Hope has been treating her.

"Feels like we haven't seen you since we were at the bar." Raphael cuts in.

Her smile drops to a small frown, not wanting to remember to much about that night, it definitely goes down as one of the worst. She's had worse but she refuses to let those memories mess up her day.

"Yeah I had a to take a couple days off." She says, as she takes out her laptop.

"You needed a break, you work too hard." Landon says.

"That's because she actually wants to prosper in this company bird boy." Jade cuts in, rolling her eyes at his comment.

Josie gives her a small smile before getting back to work.

It felt good getting back to her routine, the past few days have felt like a dream to her, Hope's family actually likes her, even her father. She's happy Mg and Ethan are pals, his relationship with Lizzie seems to be going well it feels nice.

Josie breezes through her work like usual. She had this weird feeling that someone was watching her the whole time but she pays no attention to it seeing as it was about to be time for lunch so she can see Hope.

She sets a small alarm on her phone to let her know when it was time so she wasn't late again.

She hears it go off and quickly dismisses it, she looks around seeing she's the only one left in the office.

'Everyone must have went to lunch already.' She thinks.

She closes her laptop, grabs her phone putting it in her skirt pocket and heads toward the door.

She makes it to the hallway and presses the button for the elevator.

The elevator dings and the doors open. To her surprise she sees Jade standing in it.

She walks in and presses the button to Hope's floor. She puts her hands behind her back and looks all around the elevator as she feels the girl's eyes on her.

'Can this elevator go any slower.' She thinks starting to feel weird under the girl's gaze.

"Why are you heading up to the higher floors?" Jade asks, breaking the silence. Her eyes not even once leaving the brunette.

Josie turns to Jade, "I uh eat lunch with someone." She says not wanting to lie or fully tell the truth either.

Jade hums before speaking again, "So are you still kind of seeing someone?" She asks and steps a foot closer to Josie.

Making the brunette take a step away, "Actually no, I have a girlfriend."

She takes another look at the elevator floors, 'Come on. I feel like this thing is going really slow all of a sudden.'

"That's too bad, she probably doesn't know how to take care of a girl like you." She says as she takes another step closer.

'Actually.... Wait Josie get your mind out of the gutter.' She thinks to herself not letting the memories of their past few days wander her mind.
