Chapter 56 "That was weird"

They had waited a couple hours until Josie was able to use magic.

"You told everyone right?" Hope asks.

Josie nods,"Yep, mom who told dad which surprised me and then I told Mg and Lizzie. Does your family know?" She asks.

Hope nods,"Yes and they were strangely excited." She chuckles. She clears her throat,"Okay let's get started on the spell.

They combine all the ingredients into a small bowl. Josie grabs ahold of Hope's hands and siphons as she says the spell. Once that's done she looks at the grayish looking liquid and frowns.

"It looks disgusting." She says.

Hope chuckles,"I'm sure the taste is no better."She intertwines their hands, "Your positive you want to do this?"

"I'm positive." She says. She brings Hope in for a kiss before grabbing a hold of the bowl. She brings it to her lips and starts to drink.

"Ugh it definitely tastes worse than it looks."She tries to wipe her tongue with her arm sleeve after setting the bowl down.

Hope chuckles and stands, pulling Josie up with her, she walks her to the bed. Josie lays down and Hope sits beside her.

She holds her hand as Josie closes her eyes. After a minute Hope hears Josie's heartbeat stop. She takes a deep exhale trying to remember that she will be back but seeing her lifeless like this makes her feel uneasy.

She stands up almost forgetting what Josie will need when she wakes up. She closes the curtains in her room blocking all sunlight from entering.

After that she runs downstairs to grab a blood bag. She puts it on the counter and grabs herself a glass before pouring herself some bourbon. When it's half full she drinks the whole thing, she places it back on the counter when she finishes.

She takes a deep sigh and runs her fingers through her hair. She sits and puts her hand in her arms.

"You alright?"

She sits up,"Oh I'm just fine.My girlfriend is dead but I'm just peachy." She says and puts her head back in its previous position.

"Oh cheer up buttercup. She's only dead for now, you don't have to brood." Ethan says, he pats her on the back afterwards. He grabs a glass of his own and pours some bourbon into it.

"I forgot how cold it gets in this place. You aren't cold?" He asks.

She shrugs,"My ears are usually the only thing that get cold but Josie's thighs normally keep them warm." She grins trying to lift up her own mood.

"Okayyyy I did not need to know that much information. Anyways,you ready to take over the business?" He asks, taking a seat next to her.

"Actually I am. If all goes according to plan. Although these investors are pissing me off but I can handle it." She lifts her head up and pushes her glass towards Ethan. He grabs it and starts to pour more.

"I heard Josie got bumped up that's awesome, is she working from home too?" He asks.

"Yep, Josie is the best at what she does. She's always ahead of work, she says she misses the office but she doesn't mind our vacation being extended. She's still being paid and her boss is under the same roof as her." She takes a small sip of her drink.

"Oh get this, Jess walked up to me and Jo today. I mean what are the odds of us running into Josies ex and my old fling on the same day."

"Oh my gosh wasn't Jess the one that wanted to have a-"Hope cuts him off. "Yes she is, we will never mention that to anyone, ever." She says before taking another sip of her drink.
