TRIGGER WARNING!!!!!!!

Ira squeezes my hand trying to reassure me, I stare at him, standing in the box, fear running through my body. The fact he can just stand there acting like he'd done nothing. I squeeze Ira's hand tightly, "It'll be okay I promise." she whispers. I look at her giving her a small smile, I just wanna leave this courtroom. I just wanna go back home where I know I'll be safe, my safe haven. "All rise for the judge." We all stand up as he walks to his podium then sits, we follow in sitting down "Does the jury have a verdict?" The judge asks "Yes your honour, we find the accused guilty of rape." a man says.

My body fell with relief, they found him guilty! Tears fall down my face, my attacker is finally getting what he deserves. I ran out the room not being able to be near him for a single second longer, within five minutes Ira walks out finding me sitting on the wall. I hold my leather jacket close to me, "He got fifteen years." she says walking towards me. "I see."

Fifteen years doesn't seem long enough. "Akio." she reaches out for my arm then stops when I flinch. "I know it doesn't seem long enough for what he did to you, but it's finally over, you're free now."

I look at her "Free? I can never be myself again Ira, how can I? After what he did!" I cry. "Akio." she pulls me into a hug, stroking the back of my head. "It'll be alright, I'll always be here for you." she kisses the top of my head as I weep.

Can I really be free?

~

I sit facing myself in the mirror, Ira brushes my freshly showered hair, "I love how blue your hair is." She smiles. "Mum said I was born with it, the doctors looked at her weird as they handed me to her." Ira smirks "They probably thought you were a witch or something." I smirk "Aren't witches meant to have "ginger" hair." I laugh. "Now, now Akio, we're not in the fifteenth century now, anyone could be a witch." she winks. I smile back at her enjoying the feeling of her brushing my hair, I miss my mum brushing my hair.

"Akio hunny, come here." Mum says as she pats the bed. "Okay mummy!" I run over to her, she picks me up and I crawl in between her legs, facing away from her.

"Your hair is so beautiful, as blue as the morning sky." She says as she begins to brush my hair. "Mummy, why is my hair blue?" I ask, she stops brushing "I don't know darling, but you were born with it, why do you ask?"

"Everyone in my class has brown, black, blonde or ginger hair, I'm the only one with blue, they all look at me funny." I twiddle my fingers together. "What about Ira? Does she look at you funny?" She asks.

"Oh no! Ira tells them to back off, she says I have pwetty hair and I should ignore them." I say. "Well she's not wrong." she says as she continues to brush my hair.

"When the doctors handed me you as a new born baby, you had the smallest amount of blue hair, you're very unique Akio, you're very special." she says, "Do you want me to plait your hair?" she asks. "Yes pwease mummy!"

"Hey Akio, are you listening?" Ira says bringing me back to reality, "Huh? Sorry, what were you saying?" "Away with the fairies as always" she smiles. "I was thinking about mum." Ira's smile fades. "I'm sorry." she whispers.

"No it's okay!" I turn to face her. "It's just when you were brushing my hair it reminded me of when I was six and she was brushing my hair." I smile at her, reassuring her. "I remember one evening before bed, she sat me in between her legs, I asked her why my hair was blue, she said she had no idea but it's what made me unique, special even." I smirk .
