Warning: mild reference to nightmares

Jess POV:

So, I managed to survive a full week in my new home with demons; in school no less. I recall last nights sex education class and feel sad as I remember Akio's panic. Something is really going on with that poor girl and I wish I could help her. I finish getting dressed and pack a small overnight bag. Today we are going back to Earth for the weekend. I didn't really want to be heading home but Jesse offered for me to come stay with him this weekend. He wants to pick up some equipment or something. Akio is also joining us. I asked everyone last night what they were doing for the weekend and Akio said she didn't want to go back to Japan, so Jesse invited her with us so she wouldn't be lonely. And she is just so adorable, I want to get to know her better. I was quite happy that she actually agreed!

As I leave my room, I see Akio leaving hers and wave at her. I jump up next to her and smile, "You excited to visit New Zealand?" Akio gives me a small smile and nods her head. She looks amazing in her red and black skinny jeans and black top with a crescent moon on it. Her red tartan converse shoes and crescent moon choker pull the look together and makes her blue hair stand out even more.

I move to link our arms together and see her flinch away from me. I wince as she flushes and walks faster to move ahead of me. I try to think of something to say, a way to apologise or something. As my mind blanks, I just follow along after. We head to the lounge together and wait around for Solomon to arrive. Akio asks Jesse if his head is ok and he smiles at her, reassuring her he is fine. I glance at Akio sitting delicately on the couch, while Jesse seems to be a bunch of nervous energy. "Calm down Jesse, it's not like we are going to fall into hell again." He stumbles in his pacing and looks at me before bursting out laughing.

"You're right there!" he chuckles. Even Akio lets out a little giggle at my joke and I brighten up instantly hearing their sounds of joy. Solomon finally arrives in wonderfully late fashion and stands in the middle of the room.

"You are all sure you want to go to the same place?" he asks as he looks, pulls out a bunch of books and maps and laying them on the floor. I glance at Akio as I say, "I'm in for a sleepover, are you ok Akio?"

She looks at me with her big blue eyes "I'm fine Jess. I want to go." I smile at her and she gives me a smile back making me feel instantly better. Seriously? Does this girl have superpowers or something?

Jesse nods his head at our confirmation and turns back to Solomon as he opens up what looks to be an atlas and pulls a few maps of the lower North Island and Wellington out before looking up at Jesse. "Where do you live? Be exact as possible please."

Jesse sits down next to him telling him his physical address and pointing on the maps. "Somewhere around there, the map is a bit small to be accurate." he says, frowning at Solomon. Solomon smirks as he pinches his fingers over the area on the map Jesse pointed out and flicks his fingers out. The map zooms into the area making the streets and buildings clearer.

"Holy sugar loaf!" I exclaim as it zooms in and I drop to my knees beside it. "But it's paper!"

"It's magic Jess." Solomon says looking at me like I'm an idiot. I poke my tongue at him and move to sit next to Akio. I am careful not to touch her this time. She flashes me a grateful smile before turning back and watching Solomon work his magic.

Once Solomon is confident in where he is sending us, he gets us to stand together with our bags while he does his thing. He waves his arms about and mumbles some words, and a portal opens at our feet. "You will have exactly 24 hours in the human world. A portal will open up in the same place as this one is then; it will be open for 10 minutes so don't be late. You don't want Barbatos to have to hunt you down, hmm." He waves at us to step forward.
