Bisexual?!

Jesse's POV:

So just after giving us our timetables, they decide now is when we should do introductions after Akio and Kohdor have already left for class. Seems like they really think things through here. That is how I find myself sitting on a desk, in a history class I'm not meant to be in. I look down at Jess in the chair and see her worrying the side of her bottom lip between her teeth. She notices me looking and smirks before turning back to the demons speaking at the front of the class. They are going on trips back to earth and rules, blah blah blah.

I tune back in when Diavolo calls Nixie and Kohdor up to introduce themselves. There is something about them I can't put my finger on. They seem...... dangerous. I am shocked as they explain that they are from a different world and live alongside other supernatural beings.

"Whoa now! If you guys live with other supernatural beings, isn't your world dangerous for humans?" I blurt out before I realize what I have said. They both look at me and I can feel a slight heat rise into my cheeks. They answer me and continue on with their introduction.

Next, Kamal and Bibby introduce themselves in a vague manner. I can't seem to get a very good read on either of them. I would say they have both been abused at some point in their lives but other than that they are difficult to assess.

Diavolo looks at Jess and I and waves us up. I stand and turn to see Jess staring blankly at Diavolo. I gently grip her elbow and pull her to her feet. Not letting go I saunter up to the front, pulling Jess to stand beside me. She quickly yanks her arm out of my grasp and folds her arms over her ample chest.

I smile at her pouting face before I turn and look at the people staring at us.

"Kia ora, I'm Jesse, a 25-year-old bisexual bartender from New Zealand on Earth. I'm not as interesting as multiverse people or as mysterious as the two exotic beauties. Just a regular old human." I flash one of my brilliant smiles at everyone in the room while winking. Simultaneously, Nixie excitedly blurts out "Bartender?!" while Benji seems shocked as he lets slip "Bisexual?!"

I chuckle at their outbursts. Turning to Nixie first "Yeah, I specialize in cocktails. Love making them and I'm kinda good at it."

"What's your favourite to make?" a random voice asks.

"I guess my favourite would be the Phoenix cocktail, which is basically a colour changing flaming shot." I hear a few gasps and oohs as I describe my favourite drink.

I turn to Benji who has the cutest little blush and embarrassed expression on his face. He seems to cringe a tiny bit as he notices my attention. I can tell he didn't mean to blurt out my sexuality like that, the poor guy seems to be repressing

something. And if my intuition is correct, I would say it has more to do with his sexuality than mine.

I smile at him softly, hoping to put him at ease. "I like both guys and girls, so I am bisexual. I know not everyone supports people like me, but I want people to know who I am and that I will not back down." I see Benji seemingly waging a war in his head at my words. Poor guy, I wonder if he is single?

I turn to Jess and tilt my head signalling it's her turn. Jess glares up at me with a slight blush high on her cheeks. My smile slips a bit as I see the distress in her eyes. I glance at Diavolo, and Lucifer as Jess seems to freeze with everyone looking at her. Just as I open my mouth to introduce her myself, she unfreezes. A wide fake smile appears on her face "Hello everybody, my name is Jess. I am 25 and also come from New Zealand. Very pleased to meet you." she says with a sickly sweet customer service voice before she marches back to her seat and throws herself down. She stares down Diavolo and Lucifer, challenging them to say anything. I shrug and wander back to the desk and sit beside her. I give her shoulder a squeeze as Akio and Benji introduce themselves.

The rest of the day goes by in a blur of classes and demons in their various forms. My mind still reels from everything I have learnt and seen. One of the highlights of the day was lunch when I opened up the bento box Akio had made for me. She had made the cutest little bunny rice balls and picture perfect sushi which was absolutely delicious. She even had cut up pieces of fruit in there as well. I have to learn what her favorite drink is or make her one to say thanks.

I somehow manage to survive the day while also keeping an eye on Jess and the other human first years. The lack of sleep over that last 24 hours seems to be catching up to me by the time we make it back to Purgatory Hall.

Bibby's dinner was very strange but it tasted delicious. I hadn't eaten kangaroo before and eating ants was an entirely new experience. Whatever magic she did while cooking made it very appetizing.

I excuse myself and apologize to Simeon as I trudge up to my room and flop onto my new bed face first. I fall asleep still in my uniform.
