Kamal's POV
After the introductions were made and we were allowed to leave, I got up and left the classroom.
I worried about Bibby, but at the same time I knew she'd be able to handle herself.
I wandered around the corridors of RAD, poking my head into several classrooms, empty and not empty.
The teachers would either deadpan at me or wave me away, while the students just stared at me and started whispering.
I retreated from those classrooms before the students came out. I wasn't about to hang around for what was going to happen afterwards.
"Are you lost, Kamal?"
"Hm?" I turned and saw Barbatos come out from one of the classrooms. "Oh, hello! Which classroom is that? I'm just walking around to get familiar."
I put my hands behind my back and stepped up to the classroom door and peered in. "Oh! Cooking classroom?" I grinned and looked at Barbatos. "I need to learn to cook. Are you teaching it?"
He nodded. "Yes, I am. Are you going to be in the class?"
"Yes." I turned to him fully. "Though it sounded like you already knew that." I kept smiling, but I was now sus.
"Of course. I am the teacher. I need to know these things."
That made sense, but there seemed to be something; though I wasn't sure what.
"Apologies, but I need to be somewhere." Barbatos started to walk away.
I suddenly had a thought, and called out to him. "Is it true you're a demon? Or was that kind of first year joke?" I already knew about these beings of course, but I'd never met one. I wanted to see what he would say.
Barbatos turned and gave me a smile that reminded me of malicious amusement.
"Yes, I am a demon."
"Hm." I nodded and tapped my chin. "So if you're a demon, what powers do you have?"
He thought for a moment and looked at me. "It would take too much time to explain right now. Let's just say it's to do with time." He looked at me, a look of interest. "Do you want to know what I know about you?"
I stiffened. The implication was clear. He knew. He knew things I didn't want anyone to know. I narrowed my eyes. I wasn't keen on playing games.
"I would appreciate it if you told no one." I didn't say anything else. I didn't threaten him or offer anything. My tone made it clear I was serious, but I wasn't idiotic enough to make demands of a demon.
Barbatos studied me for a moment. "I have no interest in exposing your life."
He bowed and walked away.

Barbatos' POV
"I have no interest in exposing your life." I bowed to the worried man and started to walk away.
Classroom doors started to open and other students poured out.
A group of girls, demons, humans and others, went to walk past Kamal and stopped to speak to him. A few other men had as well.
Kamal looked uncomfortable, but tried to keep a friendly smile.
I knew better. He wanted to turn and run; run back to the dorms and into his room to hide. He didn't have the ability to. Not yet.
