Chapter 29: Gate To Possession

"I-it's not my fault...! It's not my fault..! I-it's... It's not my fault...!"
Everything was set on fire.
Little Chaeyoung was fidgeting on the ground, outside her already burned house.
"It's your fault...! It's your fault..! Your fault...!"
Chaeyoung placed both her hands in her ears, she couldn't bare listening to the people's cries in horror and agonized screams.
"Help me... Help..! Help... Help! Help! Help!"
Just as Chaeyoung prayed, gigantic beasts with loud footsteps arrive at the catastrophe.
The Spirit wolf howls throughout the village.
Chaeyoung was bewildered at the sight. It was her first time seeing the beast up close.
As her prayer was answered, the beast bows and Chaeyoung sees a woman mounting her.
"Show forth your might. O my power, grant my will and ceased the burning village,"
Nayeon casted a spell with her one arm up in the air. In a flash, she calls blessings from the heaven and extinguishes the area to stop the fire.
Chaeyoung has found her hero. Her eyes are sparkling with admiration and idolized her.
Nayeon was wearing a white cape, hooded to cover her identity. The Spirit wolf then bows and moves her face closer to the ground for Nayeon to descend.
Nayeon and the Spirit wolf Sana were once a partner.
"Are you hurt, child?" Nayeon's smiles were only visible in her features.
Chaeyoung's unexpected life began there.
Presently, Chaeyoung can't focus on her paint when her mind has been forced to face her past. Dropping the brush, she put her both palms on the paper board on the ground.
"Up until now... I still don't understand why I was chosen to have the shapeshifting ability,"
The only thing Chaeyoung realized is that her talent for drawing beautiful art, no matter how she did it ugly is just her only skill.
She was born to be an artist, to begin with.
"Forgive me if I failed you, Nayeon unnie..."
Chaeyoung proceeds to concentrate on her task and observes the battle between Ryujin and Sana from the distance.
"Should we do something to help your sister?" You ask Mina next to you and she was staring at Ryujin in disturbed expression.
"We can't risk our life. She can handle Ryujin by herself. Let's trust her," Mina tells.
"So we're just gonna stay here and watch?"
"If an opportunity is open, we might be able to help Sana," Mina explains.
"How?"
"We have to observe,"
Sana hasn't transformed into a wolf yet, and fearlessly fights Ryujin in her human form.
"Strike forth, my venomous needle!" Ryujin commands and navigates towards Sana.
The spikes had gotten immeasurably sharper and deadlier than they used to be. Sana was extra careful not to get poisoned by her.
