Chapter 38: A showcase of Shapeshifter
On the other side, as you fell unconscious, the plan was flunked.
Just as Chaeyoung ran out of the tavern, she saw you collapsing. "Y/N!!"
She immediately catches you in her arms and drops her knees on the ground, enfolding you as though protecting you from trouble.
Three of the Jackson Cult were chasing after her as their presence brought her back to her senses. When she turned at them, her brows had narrowed in anger and attempts to scare them off, but none of them was fazed by it.
"That woman has Shapeshifting ability. Keep cautious!" Member A says, who was been kicked by Chaeyoung earlier ago now his face is beaten up.
"Stay away from Y/N!!" Chaeyoung growls.
One of the Jackson Cult, who appears to be a wizard. A dark purple-ish magic circle behind his head comes into view, there was a form of glowing pyramid-like shape and discharges to you and Chaeyoung's direction.
Chaeyoung was immediately on guard at the incoming attack, her one hand rises in an attempt to stop it.
"Shields from Heavenー"
In the middle of chanting Nayeon's spell, she was cut off when Momo was quick to arrive in the front, knowing the shield won't work against it, she lands on the ground like a pro and activates a black smokescreen to make them blind.
As the smoke fills the air, it was strangely safe to keep their eyes open but still blinded from the area.
"Y/N!! Wake up! What's happening to you all of a sudden?" With that, Chaeyoung shifts her attention to you while the enemies was being distracted by the black smoke that erupted around them.
"It's not over yet...! Please wake up for me!" It had a painful echo and desperately wished for you to return, but you aren't, regardless of the desire.
Hwang Yeji had completely consumed you in the darkness that you couldn't hear what's happening outside of you.
In that moment, Chaeyoung gasps as soon as she caught a glimpse of green glow over your neck, which is the source of your unconsciousness.
"What is this...?!" She wonders.
"Chaeyoung! This is Jeongyeon. What's the situation?"
"Y/N collapsed! This is bad... Y/N is sweating... and shaking in fear!"
"Chaeyoung, take Y/N and find a shelter. I'll handle this,"
"Whaー Momo? Jeongyeon unnie, where are you?"
"We have to end this quick, you two. Just run straight ahead, you'll see a barrel. Bait them for me,"
"Okay, Jeongyeon unnie. Momo, you heard her?"
"Yes,"
And so, Momo appears next to Chaeyoung as she helps her carry you and ran through the pathway Jeongyeon had instructed.
Running from the Jackson Cult, they chased after them and launches a dangerous scheme to stop the girls from running. Another shape glows of pyramid-like shoots forwards them.
"They'll catch up to us at this rate!" Momo twirls, using her energy and create a small barrier to deflect their attack.
Chaeyoung sighs, and prays. "Jihyo unnie... I need your strength... please lend me..." With that, she slowly transforms into Ice Witch and feels a sheer cold upon copying her figure.
