UNDERCOVER AND IN LOVE

CHAPTER 7: TOM'S CARE

Tom said "Sierra you are shivering. I need to get you to a hospital."  Sydney said "no Tom please don't. I'm fine. I'll be fine."  He said "you are hurt, you may have internal damage, you need a doctor."  Sydney said "yeah but it's too risky. Until I figure out how my cover was blown. It has got to be someone at the station. I don't have any friends at work, so someone must have tipped Mario off"  Tom said "yeah there is a dirty cop involved. I know that."  Sydney said ""how do you know."  He said "I'll fill you in a little later."

Tom said "ok no doctor for now, but if I see you are getting worse, I'm taking you Sierra. I'm going to get you another blanket.  He came back and covered her up.  He had a bottle of water and gave to her.  She said "Thank you Tom. Oh by the way I'm sorry I should have already told you. My name isn't Sierra. It's Sydney."  He said "oh ok Sydney."  He sat down by her.

Sydney said "Tom I don't know how I will ever be able to thank you for saving me. If it wasn't for you."  Tom said "you're welcome but you don't need to keep thanking me. I'm sorry it took me so long.  I was freaking out and couldn't think of how to save you and get you out of there, I mean since Mario has every room being watched on security, and those big guards guarding the room."

Sydney said "How did you even do it. I mean those guards watching the room, why didn't they come running when you hit Mario over the head like that."  Tom said "well I had a lot of help from my friends and fellow officers. They really came through for me. Even the guy who I hate and have been a real jerk to."

Sydney said "is that guy a cop or?"  Tom said "yeah he joined our team about 8 months ago. He and I clashed first day. He came in and I don't know just rubbed me wrong. I reacted to it and from then so he loves to yank my chain. Gets me all worked up. I hate working cases with just him. But actually I guess I need to apologize to him."  

Sydney said "Why's that."  He said "Cause I owe him big. I don't know without him if I would have been able to save you.  When that dirt bag that works with Mario came in when I was in middle of a meeting and said he had a friend who is a cop and he had big information, Mario kicked me out, so I was outside the room watching on the security, no sound so I was so sure that my cover was blown, that he outed me as a cop, I mean he was telling him and you could see Mario was enraged, shoving hitting things, so I wasn't surprised when Mario called me in. I figured I was a dead man. I went in and then Mario said that you were the cop. He told me what he was going to do to you. I knew I had to get you out of there, but I was panicking. I didn't know how. I mean if I get myself killed it won't save you, so I knew I couldn't just jump him or arrest him. I try that."  Sydney said "And you don't make it out of the mansion.  Thank you so much Tom. You took such a huge risk, I mean oh my God Tom."  She took Tom's hand.

Tom said "What."  She said "you just put a target on your back. I'm so sorry. I oh no if anything happens to you because of me."  She was crying.  he said "hey don't worry ok." He patted her hand.

Tom said "so anyway I left and sped right to my precinct, and told them what was happening, that I had to get you out but how. Then the guy I have been a real jerk to, he came up with the idea.  He said that he knew  how if he could get into the computer system, he knew how to hack the security camera to."  Sydney said "move the time back, to an earlier point of time."  Tom said "Right, so Judy said that she could get them two in, she thought of saying that he was a computer repairman and she was his girl, so she was able to talk their way into the house and I set them up in the library. Then Judy came up with bringing in pizza and brownies for the two guards, and putting a whole vial of sleeping pills liquid form in the brownies."  

Sydney laughed.  She said "I like how she thinks. I bet they are still sleeping huh."  Tom laughed.  He said "yeah so Doug pretended to be the delivery food guy and brought them in. Then I took a safe brownie to eat, Judy had marked the one for me in a wrapper, so I ate then they did, and then like a few seconds later they dropped."
