UNDERCOVER AND IN LOVE

CHAPTER 16: THINGS CHANGE

Sydney was worrying about going back to work.  She had made the appointment with a doctor to get the physical and go through a drug screening, and that was going to be  Monday of the next week, with Sydney starting at Jump Street the following week.  She was stressing over it so much that it was making her feel sick.

They had went out with Doug, Judy, Dennis, and Harry to the local bar that they met at every Friday.  Sydney was quiet.  Tom said "baby can I have a dance"  She said "Sure."  They were dancing slow, close. Tom said "ok you want to tell  me what's wrong Baby I don't want to bug you, if you don't want to talk, but all week I know you've been upset."  

Sydney said "I'm sorry I'll tell you tonight ok when we go home."  They left early.  Sydney said "Tom we didn't need to leave."  He said "I'd rather be alone with you anyway. Come sit with me"  They got in the recliner.  Sydney said "Tom it's just  my doctor appointment."  Tom said "Right so oh are you worried she isn't going to clear you. Honey I'm sure she will, you are all physically healed, and you completed your counseling"

Sydney said "yeah it's not that."  Tom said "oh ok. talk to me"  Sydney said "Tom I'm just I guess kind of stressing out about joining Jump Street, having to be on a case again, I don't know"  Tom said "honey if you need more time, I'll talk to Adam ok"  Sydney said 'Tom it's been 6 months."  Tom said "I know but honey you were brutally beaten, and almost raped.  It is going to take awhile If you're not ready, you're not ready, it's fine"

Sydney said "I just Tom I'm worried about so much, I mean what kind of cases will he put me on"  Tom said "ok first let me assure you, that you aren't going to be on any cases alone ok, I'm going to be your partner, I've already cleared that with Adam."  Sydney said "I've just been stressing to the point it makes me feel sick to my stomach. I mean Tommy what if he asks me to pretend to be with a guy, I can't do it, I just can't stand to have any guy but you touch me."  Tom said "ok don't even worry about that, there's no way in hell I'd ever let you do a case like that ok.  And Adam would never ask you to do that."  Sydney said "But you guys have to pretend to be someone you're not right. Undercover"  Tom said "yes baby but Adam won't ever ask you to do that and you will have me with you all the time ok."  Sydney said "ok.  She kissed him.  They made love.

That week  Sydney was throwing up.  Booker and Judy and Tom all tried reassure her that she wouldn't be alone on any cases, it would never be like it was, and that everyone had her back.  They tried to tell her that if she needed more time it was fine. Tom talked to Adam and he tried reassure her she could take more time, and that she could turn down any case she wasn't comfortable with, and that Tom would be her partner at all times.   Tom had decided that he was going to propose to Sydney on Friday. He had made reservations    Tom wanted everything to be special.  He had went in to talk to the manager at the fancy romantic Italian restaurant, to let her know that he wanted to reserve a room so they could be alone, have music, the menu, flowers, that it was going to be a special night he was going to propose.

Tom told Sydney that she needed to tell the doctor about her nerves, and stress and it was making her sick, that the dr needed that information before she cleared her physically.  Sydney didn't want to but she agreed because Tom kept bugging her about it. Tom said that the dr could maybe prescribe her something to calm her down or at least help the nausea. Tom took her to the doctor and waited in waiting room.  Sydney told the doctor about the stress she was feeling nervous, but it was making her sick to her stomach and throwing up.  Doctor said that was normal with the trauma she endured the fear of being back on a case.  Sydney said Tom had suggested maybe she could give her a prescription to help her with nausea.  She said she would after she did blood tests to just make sure nothing else was wrong.

Thursday at the bowling alley Judy and Sydney were sitting at the booth in the bar with Tom and Dennis, and Judy said "oh tomorrow night you guys have to take us to the movies."  Booker said "ok what we seeing"  Tom was drinking his beer.  he said "um yeah sorry that won't work"  Sydney said "why not"  Tom said "cause I made plans for us."  Judy said "Hanson this is the only night for this movie, and we waited a long time in line to get the tickets Can't you change your plans to Saturday"
