UNDERCOVER AND IN LOVE

CHAPTER 20: IN AN INSTANT

Doug was driving.  Tom's phone rang. He got it out of his pocket, thinking it was Sydney. He said "Dammit what the hell she calling me for."  Doug said "Who?"  Tom said "That damn Jackie."  Doug said "you know I'm thinking you really need report her, I mean she's down right obsessed with you."  Tom said "Yeah I think I am going to talk to her boss. I hate her. She needs stay hell away from me and Sydney."  Tom hit the deny button on his  phone.  She called back. She left a voice message.  She said "Tommy you need to call me. It's important."  Tom deleted the message.

Judy called said she'd be there in less than 10.  Sydney and Tom didn't know because it was kept quiet, and not leaked to the media, Jackie was trying to call Tom to let him know that there was a prison fight. Mario had been injured so they were going to transport him to the hospital. Supposedly his injuries were too serious for the prison doctor and nurse.  But in the ambulance he had help, it was  a setup. Some nurse he had sweettalked and had been writing letters to had managed to be the one in the ambulance, so she let him escape.  The driver and guard tried stop them, but he shot the guard in the head and the driver several times in the chest.  He sped off in the ambulance.  That happened Friday night.  There was a manhunt all night. They didn't think he would set foot back in town.

The doorbell rang.  Sydney went to the door thinking it was Judy.  She opened the door. She said "hey you won't believe Tommy"  Sydney saw it was Mario.  She screamed "Oh my God."  She tried shut door, but he blocked it.  He put a gun on her stomach.  He said "hello baby I would say did you miss me, but it looks like you haven't thought about me at all."  She was crying, begging him to not hurt her baby."  He grabbed her by her hair and yanked on it hard.  She screamed out in pain.  He said "now you're going to come with me or I'm going to put a bullet in your baby and I will love to do it."  He forced her into his car.  She was crying, saying "oh my God, Please don't hurt my baby. Please Mario just let us go. You don't want to do this"  He said "Shut up bitch"  He hit hit her hard knocked her out. She slumped over in the car. He had hit her on the back of the head.

Judy got there a few minutes later.  She knew something was wrong, because the door was ajar.  She said "Sydney."  She went in.  She looked around.  She saw Sydney's purse and phone were laying on the table, but she noticed a big gob of Sydney's hair, and some blood.  She felt sick.  She called Tommy.

Tom's phone was busy.  Jackie kept trying to call. Tom said "Dammit."  He blocked her.  Judy called Booker hysterical.  She was screaming she's gone oh my God."  Booker got her to calm down  She told him.  Booker felt sick.  Just then Jackie came into the station.  Booker was there doing some paperwork until he was to meet the guys.  Fuller was with Jackie. He had met her at her bosses office.

Fuller said "Booker Hanson's not answering his phone."  Booker was on the phone with Judy.  Jackie said "I've been calling him non stop. But he won't pick up."  Booker said "Maybe cause he hates you. Look I don't got time for your games. Judy said something happened at Sydney's

Jackie said "That's why I'm calling Tom."  Fuller said "Mario escaped last night."  Booker felt sick.  He said "What the hell, how the hell did this happen."  He exploded in rage at Jackie. Asking why they weren't notified last night. That Tommy and Sydney needed know last night. Booker said "oh my God.  He told Judy.  She screamed and cried was blaming herself.  He said "Baby don't do that ok. This is on the DA and his office. They knew last night. I promise you I will find her. But I need go let Tom know.

Booker called Tom.  Tom said "hey Booker"  Booker said "Tom I don't know how to tell you this"  Tom said "Tell me what"  Booker said "Jackie that bitch"  Tom said "I don't want to hear it, look she has been blowing up my phone."  Booker said "yeah I know that. She's here at the station. That bitch man I need you to be able to think straight ok."  Tom said "Booker"  Booker said "Are you driving'  Tom said "no Doug is"  Booker said "well you need to stop and come back to station. I don't know how to tell you so I'm just going to say it.  Mario escaped last night, no one thought to tell us"  Tom said "oh my God. Doug hurry turn around use your lights I got to get to Sydney warn her."
