UNDERCOVER AND IN LOVE

CHAPTER 25: FACE TO FACE

Tom had sent flowers every day.  And called but Sydney didn't want to talk to him.  The guys told him to not give up.  Judy and Booker were taking turns taking off to stay home with Sydney, help her, so that she didn't have to get up and get anything.  They were both worried about her.

Sydney felt like they thought she needed a baby sitter, but they told her they just worry. She told them she was fine, and they needed go on to work. 

Sydney put on a sweatshirt and sweat pants, and decided she needed get some fresh air, and go for a drive.  She just wanted to feel the cold air on her face, roll down the windows and turn up the music.

She ended up at the cemetery.  She didn't even notice Tom's car. She was kind of her in own little world.  

She got out and walked to Isabella's grave.  She had her head down watching her footing.  She was still in quite a bit of pain, had only been a week.  She was holding her side.

She stopped when she saw Tom.  She felt frozen.  She was hoping he wouldn't hear someone and turn around.  She was wanting to get back and get to her car.  She turned quietly. She managed to have turned all way around and had her back to Tom.  She had taken a few steps. When she heard him talking to their baby girl.

Sydney's heart broke for him.  She was frozen just standing there not knowing what to do. Whether to go or let Tom know she was there.  

Tom was crying.  Tom said "Isabella our beautiful angel. I'm so so sorry. Daddy loves you so much, but your mommy loves you so much more.  And it's all my fault that mommy and I lost you. I am so sorry and now mommy I may lose mommy forever, and I wish to I pray to God I don't.  I will give mommy all the time she needs but I can't lose her.  If mommy divorces me, the only thing keeping me from taking my gun and blowing my head off is your mommy and the hope that she will come back to me, that she will forgive me for what I did, for causing us to lose you. If mommy wasn't here, I'd want to be with you But if I lose her."  

Sydney couldn't stand to hear Tom blaming himself, or threatening to kill himself.  She wiped her face, from all the tears, and slowly turned around.  Tom was kneeling down in front of the grave.  He still didn't hear her.  She was debating what she should do say something or just make a noise.

Tom got up and was going to leave when he turned around and saw Sydney. She burst into tears. Tom said "Baby um Sydney I'm sorry. I didn't know you'd be here. I thought you were supposed to be under bed rest"  She wiped her eyes.

She said "yeah I am. But I wanted to come here. I've missed the whole week so I needed to come."  He nodded.  He said "is Booker in the car or"  She said "no he is at work."  He said "Oh so Judy brought you"  She said "No. I drove"  Tom said "Sydney baby come on please you got to take care of yourself."  She said "I'm fine"  He said "Sydney you're not supposed to be driving not even supposed to be out of bed.  I know the doctors gave you strict bed rest. And you're on too much medication to drive:"

Sydney said "Tom Dennis is nagging me enough, please I had to come"  He said "ok well I'll let you be here in peace. I don't want to make you uncomfortable"  Sydney said "Well you weren't done visiting were you"  He said "no but that's ok. I can come back"  Sydney slowly bent down.  She about fell. So Tom caught her.  He said "Let me help you"  He helped her sit down.  He got up. Was going to leave. He said "Take care of yourself Sydney"  He turned to leave.  He took a few steps.

Sydney had picked up the flowers Tom had just left.  She said "Tommy"  He turned and came back.  He said "yeah."  She said "if you didn't if you weren't ready to leave it's ok."  He said "Are you sure"  She said "yeah I can go."  He said "no Sydney. You need to be here more than me."  Tom turned to leave.
