The next few months were hard.

Tom made sure that we were not in danger.  As best as he could.  He thinks that there is no one left in that family that can come after us.

Dennis was in a medically induced coma for about 3 weeks.

Judy called and talked to Tom. Told him that the doctors just told her that they were going to bring Dennis out of the coma.

Tom let me know and asked me if I wanted to be there.  If he did he would have the guards go with us, and we could take the baby.

I told Tom I wanted to be there, but if he thought it was best for Thomas if I stay home.  I told him that I knew Judy probably needed him, so if he wanted to go, and me stay home. He said we would be safe.

Judy had been staying at the hospital.  Doug and Harry would take her place, and then she would leave to go home and shower and try and sleep.

Judy was so happy to see us.  She came and gave me a hug and then Tom.

Judy wanted to hold Thomas.  Doug and Harry and Adam were there waiting in the waiting room with us.

The nurse came to get Judy and said that he was awake, but that he was upset and agitated. The doctor wanted to fill her in on his condition, before she went in.

We were fearing he might have brain damage, but the doctor said that luckily he didn't have any brain damage, but because of the swelling on his brain, at the moment he is paralyzed from the waist down. That it could be temporary, once the swelling goes down. But he didn't know.

Judy went to Tom, and he hugged her, trying to comfort her.

Judy went in to see him. And Dennis asked her if she was ok, if she was hurt? He was remembering what had happened, and asked if they hurt Judy, touched her, hurt her, after he was shot, and she told him no that the swat team fired on them, they were all taken out.

Dennis was upset that he couldn't walk, and she tried to comfort him, telling him that his paralysis might just be temporary.  He told her what if it's not.  His life is over.  She told him not to worry about that yet, he should just wait and see, do his physical therapy and just be patient. But that even if he was paralyzed permanently his life wasn't over. He was lucky to be alive.

Judy told him that we brought the baby. He wanted to see us, so Judy said she would go get us.

Judy came into the waiting room.  She went to Tom and burst into tears.

Tom hugged her.  She said, "he's calmed down some, but he's just so upset, he was reliving the attack, and then thinks his life is over if he is paralyzed. What if he gives up?"

Tom said, "Judy I'm sorry."

Judy said, "Tom I told Dennis that you and Sydney were here. He wants to see you."  Tom said, "I'm sure it's Sydney he wants to see."

Tom said, "Baby you go on with Judy."  I said, "you want Thomas"  Tom took him. Tom gave me a kiss on the head.

Judy held my hand as we went in.

I told myself and Judy I was going to be strong and not cry, but when I got in the room, and saw him. I cried.

Dennis said "hey Sydney"

I managed to make it to him, and then burst out into tears.  Judy rubbing my back.

I said, "Dennis I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. You must hate me"

Dennis said, "Sydney stop. Come here."

I went closer to him. He held out his arms, and I gave him a hug and cried.
