CHAPTER 11: MEETING TOM'S EX

Sydney and Tom were eating breakfast.  Tom got a phone call. He said "ok I will bring her down. Thanks Adam"  Tom said "Sydney you and I are supposed to go down to my station, and have a meeting with Adam, and the DA and ADA, and I think you're captain is coming also to go over their case against him."  Sydney said "ok, so the ADA is that still your ex?"  He said "yeah."  Sydney said "I see,"  She was a little jealous. She said "I'm going to go get ready."

Sydney had changed, and redid her makeup.  She was standing there staring at the mirror. Tom came in.  He said "hey you going to be ready to go. I don't want to be late."  Sydney said "yeah I guess I'm ready. I'm really not looking forward to this."  He said "I know, but I will be there for you as you tell what happened."

They left.  Sydney was staring out the window.  She was mainly dreading seeing Tom's ex.  She looked at Tom.  She wondered if he was excited to see her, or if he might still be interested in her.  Tom looked at her and she looked back out the window. Tom said "Sydney after this is over if you want we can go to lunch"  Sydney said "ok."

Tom pulled in.  Sydney saw Booker's car.  She was glad that Booker was going to be  there.  She was not wanting to do this meeting.  She said "Tom I see Booker's car. Is it going to be ok if I talk to Dennis?"  He said "yes of course Sydney. I'm sorry about the way I acted ok. I was just caught off guard."

They went in.  Tom had her hand.  Dennis and Judy were talking to Doug.  They all looked up.  Dennis still couldn't believe that Sydney was the girl that Tom was in love with, and it made him sick that he could see Sydney was falling for Tom.

Dennis said "Hey Sydney"  He got up and went to her.  He said to himself Tom may have her, but I'm not going to just stay away from her, with him dating her it's going to be impossible.  Dennis hugged her.  Tom gave him a look but didn't say anything.  Sydney said "hey Dennis."  Booker said "how you feeling?"  She said "not that good. I just want to go. I don't want to do this stupid meeting."  Judy said "Hanson Fuller was wanting to talk to you when you got here."

Tom said "oh ok."  He made a face, he wasn't really wanting to leave Sydney alone with Booker.  Tom said "Sydney I'll be back"  She said "ok Tom"  Judy got a phone call.  Sydney said "Dennis do you think we could talk a minute"  He said "yeah sure. Let's go outside."  Dennis said "hey Judy I'm going to take Sydney outside let her get some air ok"  She said "yeah that's fine."  Dennis kissed her cheek and left.

They got outside.  Dennis hugged her.  He said "I still can't believe you were the girl that Tom was talking about. I'm so sorry. If I wouldn't have stayed away."  Sydney said "no it's ok. I'm the one who is so sorry. I'm so sorry that I hurt you.  You were so sweet to me, and you deserved better."  Dennis said "no it's ok. You can't help that you didn't fall in love with me Sydney"

Tom saw that Sydney was gone. He said "Captain I'll be back"  He said "Penhall, where' s Sydney and Booker"  Doug said "he took her outside to get some air"  Tom  said "dammit"  Judy said "Hanson you got to let them talk."  He said "no I don't got to."  He left to come outside.

Dennis said "So what's wrong. I mean I know you probably not wanting to talk about what happened to you, but I can see something else is bothering you."  Sydney said "you always could read me."  He smiled and said "like a book"  She laughed.  So did he.

She said "it's just I hate that the ADA on the case is Tom's ex."  He said "so I could tell yesterday,  you really like Hanson huh"  She nodded.   She said "I'm sorry I don't want to hurt you"  He said "no it's ok. I want you to be happy, and don't tell Hanson I told you this, but he is a pretty good guy."  She smiled.  He said "I saw something in your eyes yesterday that I have never seen as long as I knew you when you were looking at Tom"  She said "What was that"  He said "You were glowing, and your eyes were sparkling.  I can tell Tom makes you really happy, so I'm truly happy for you."  Tom was listening.
