"Gargi, I am not really sure about this." Sharanya spoke into her mobile as she filled the excel sheet on her laptop.
"Di, I am hungry!" She heard her younger sister's voice.
"Heat the soup," Sharanya answered loudly. "Sorry, you were saying.."
"Did you guys exchange any more messages?" Gargi asked from the other end.
"Nothing much after the message you sent him that night from my phone on my behalf."
"Come on, someone had to make the first move and Nikhil is way more asocial than you are. You said not much... that means you guys did exchange messages?"
"Slow down, Sherlock. It was just — hey how are you... I said, I am good what about you... and then he said fine, thank you. I said cool, have a good day, I have to go. He said, of course. Good day to you too. There you are all up to speed."
"Seriously Sharu? Which century are you guys in?"
Sharanya chuckled and humored, "we should perhaps exchange letters, don't you think?"
"Is that your way of asking for his address?" Gargi asked teasingly. Sharanya rolled her eyes.
"I will ask Arun once he gets home." She added.
Sharanya sighed and just stared at her screen. Did she really want this?
"What you thinking?" Gargi asked.
"About tomorrow's breakfast," Sharanya answered.
Gargi sighed, "why are you so evasive?"
"Why are you you persuasive?" Sharanya replied in the same tone.
"Okay, let's stop beating around the bush. Do you not like him?"
"I don't know. I met him just once. We barely spoke."
"Is there something about him that bothers you?"
"He speaks less, does that count?" Sharanya answered promptly.
Gargi made a sound of disappointment, "says the one who spoke the least that night at dinner."
"I don't know, I mean... nothing clicked you know. I mean... he felt just like another person nothing special."
"You expected the whole world to slow down, butterflies in stomach and fireworks in the sky?" Gargi asked mockingly.
Sharanya smiled a little, maybe she did. That was it. Maybe it all just didn't feel right because of all that missing.
"Sharu, things like that happen in Disney movies. In real life, you meet someone and meet them again, get to know them a little and see if you can find a companion, a companion until time wears off. And take a leap of faith."
"Hmm,"
"Did you tell anyone about him?"
"No way. Are you crazy!?" Sharanya gasped.
Gargi giggled at the other end. "I think you should meet him."
Sharanya bit her lower lip and finally decided to ask, "What did he tell Arun about uh, you know his take on this?"
"Ahaan, you seem to be interested in that."
"Well, get on with it, will you?"
Gargi took a deep breath, "I can't say anything about that. I want to know what you feel?"
