Every time his mother had guests Nikhil would try to escape the room making some excuse. However when Arun and his mother had come by to pick-up Gargi he didn't feel the need to escape. Their three guests sat comfortably having ginger tea that Sharanya made which had got quite some appreciation from all the guests. Of course he was more than happy to have his coffee in his preferred mug instead.

He didn't speak much, however Sharanya more than compensated for his lack of talking. She was so comfortable with them all as though they were family. They all laughed, made jokes on each other and were just so happy together.

His family used to be like that sometimes, and those times were long ago.

This is what he really needed. A group of folks he could be a part of. Somewhere he felt he belonged. And he got this because of Sharanya. He had known Arun for a long time but he never had this. Every now and then Arun who sat beside him would make a remarkable that was only for him to hear.

It took Nikhil back to college days. He sucked at being a good friend. But maybe he was getting a chance again. Maybe he could improve his friendship with Arun. His gaze caught his wife smiling and giving a very enthusiastic Gargi a high-five as the latter made an amusing joke.

Soon the women hot busy talking about food and more specifically recipes. Nikhil had come to learn that with Sharanya around it was very hard to miss talking about them. She somehow always managed to bring food up. Not that he minded. It was endearing to see how passionate she was about cooking and even more about learning something new about it.

"Okay, time for us to slip away," Arun remarked, tapping his leg.

Nikhil nodded, placing down his cup be led him to the balcony.

"God these women and their obsession for talking about food and clothes. I hope Gargi behaved so far."

Nikhil threw him an amused look. "She's not a kid."

"Behaves like one these days," Arun mumbled, throwing a glance over his shoulder inside. "I am so glad that Mumma is here. She knows exactly how to deal with her. In all the years of our marriage, I have really never been so irritated by her how as I am in this phase she literally blows the fuse of my brain, but I don't really blame her. Her hormones are all over the place and she's going through so many changes."

Nikhil smiled, "guess it's a good training to be a good father."

Arun stared at him with a sudden interest.

"I mean, all this patience will help you with kids, right? I have heard they can be a handful."

"Oh yeah. Definitely. What about you, how are things going for you?"

"Work is well..."

"Busy." Arun answered.

"Yes,"

"Last time we spoke, you were talking about some investment option." Arun spoke up.

Nikhil tried to recollect the conversation. "About a startup?"

"Something about drones, if I remember right,"

Nikhil quickly nodded recollecting the topic, "You're looking to invest?"

"Yes, the market is pretty good right now. I plan to sell a few shares I have been holding. So I was thinking of reinvesting the proceeds into some promising stuff."
