The road was quiet and deserted as they stepped out of the gate of their building. A light breeze greeted them with sounds of rustling leaves. Nikhil looked at her and said, "Let's walk down this way, we can circle this block."

"Okay," Sharanya spoke in agreement, falling into step beside him. She was glad she had quickly worn her shoes instead of her slippers.

"You love wearing shoes?" He asked after much thought. Even during the Ooty trip she mostly wore shoes. He remembered noticing it even on the night they had first met for dinner.

Sharanya wondered if telepathy was a thing. Could people around you actually get a whiff of your thoughts?

"It's convenient, comfortable and practical, " she answered.

"Fair enough," He remarked adjusting glasses. He pushed his hands into the pockets of his trousers and walked wordlessly.

"Is you work issue sorted?" Sharanya finally asked. She had yet to learn to understand his expression and body language. She couldn't really tell if he was tensed about something or not.

He looked at her surprised. Catching that look, Sharanya explained why she thought there was something.

Nikhil was impressed yet again. "Sort of. It's all under control now. We had a bug in the software a Priority two. But the team could fix it and deliver the new version to the client. So, it's managed but we'll need to figure out why the internal teams didn't catch it. A test case gap maybe." He paused, realizing he may be boring her with all the information. "Sorry if that was too much unnecessary information."

"No, it was not." Sharanya spoke up immediately, glancing at him. Didn't marriage mean being companions. And companionship included listening to the other person's thoughts so that it gave them a clarity.

"Your grandparents are not staying for the wedding reception. You didn't ask them to stay?"

"I did. But they are old fashioned. All this wedding reception and all isn't a big deal for them."

He nodded, looking ahead. The next street lamp had gone off for some reason so a small patch of the lane was dark.

"What do you like to have for breakfast?" Sharanya's question made Nikhil a little excited, if he was to be honest. It was a common knowledge that Sharanya was a great cook. He had been counting on days to actually taste something she made. But he decided to be a little casual rather than jumping to list out all his preferences.

"You're cooking tomorrow, is it?" He asked, despite knowing the obvious answer.

"Yeah, Amma said I could prepare the food tomorrow. So, What is your preference?"

"Eggs, French toast. I think it's the best kind of breakfast." He spoke up.

"It's Tuesday tomorrow, Amma said it's a no non-veg day as is Thursday." Sharanya pointed out. There was no way she was doing anything to displease her mother-in-law.
