After lunch, Nikhil finally got some time together with his wife. Arun and Gargi were in the adjacent room. He settled on the very comfortable bed. While Sharanya was looking for something in their suitcase.
She got on the bed beside him. "This is for you," she said, extending the neatly wrapped t-shirt she had bought for him weeks ago.
Nikhil's eyes brightened up with surprise. He placed his phone aside and sat up straight.
"I thought it would look nice on you, so I bought it. If you don't like it that's okay. No compulsion to keep it from my side." She added nervously.
Nikhil unpacked the t-shirt and opened it to analyse it. "It's umm, a colour I don't usually wear."
"Uh, yes, I thought it might look good. But it's really okay, if it's totally out of your preference range."
"You want me to wear it tonight?" He asked looking up at her. Pink was really not his colour. She had got the right size, and the material was good too. Even the brand was the one which he preferred but the colour was sort of the deal breaker for him. It was a dull shade of pink with a round neck. Nonetheless, it was a gift from her. He would accept it.
"If you like it, then why not." She smiled with hope.
"Okay," He said folding it.
Sharanya smiled. This was easier than she thought.
"Thanks," He said.
"Your welcome!"
"By the way, what's the occasion? Suddenly a gift for me?" He looked up at her with questioning eyes.
"Uh,I just bought it for you," she shrugged. There was no way she was telling him that she had bought it quite sometime ago and was in two minds whether to give it or not. Gifting clothes was intimate at least for her. Especially if she was gifting her husband a t-shirt.
"I am going to nap for sometime," He said placing the t-shirt aside, and laid back on the mattress.
Sharanya quickly picked up the t-shirt, got off the bed to keep it on the table. She picked up her phone and sat on the bed reading the messages on the various chat groups.
Her thoughts went back to the conversation she had had with Gargi. She couldn't resist sharing her mind with Gargi about the little progress in their life. More than anything she needed Gargi's advice. It was as though after that night, Nikhil made no move towards her. It was worrying her. Did she do something wrong? Was Nikhil put off by something?
Gargi had very easily brushed off her doubts. Gargi's take made sense. Maybe Nikhil was just nervous and shy about as he was. Nikhil was definitely an introvert. It had taken them quite sometime to just get used to each other.
But Sharanya couldn't imagine herself initiating it. The last thing she'd want would be Nikhil to think of her as someone who was desperate. She could definitely wait. But at the same time, she was very accurately aware that her body clock was ticking. She feared not being able to conceive. As it is her gynaecologist had warned her of difficulty in getting pregnant with PCOS.
And then, Gargi's words came back. If she was going to worry about every thing then she'd never be able to cherish what she had. She glanced at Nikhil who had fallen into slumber.
