Everything seemed normal the next morning. It was as though last night nothing happened. Nikhil played along. He hadn't still figured how to solve the problem. No matter how much he tried to not think about it her words would echo in his head.

it doesn't happen with him!

They were both ready before eight to visit the temple. Nikhil stuck around Sharanya throughout the whole time. His mother was still giving him a cold shoulder buy he could make out she was melting inside. Maybe he should just start going to temples more frequently with her. After receiving the prasadam in a bowl made of dried leaves, he found a spot under the shade of a peeped tree. He settled on the wall around the tree, looking at his wife.

She glanced at his siblings and mother who sat at the foot of the steps that led up to the temple. She then looked at him.

Picking up a fallen leaf, he dusted the spot next to him with it, as she approached him. His eyes darting back to her. She wore a simple dark green saree with red borders that had copper coloured patterns on it. She hadn't pinned the entire thing up, instead she had wrapped the top portion of the saree around her arm and held it in the other hand, covering almost all of her skin at the waist.

Why even bother to wear a saree!

Nevertheless, he couldn't deny that she looked absolutely charming. Her hair was held back in a bun and that made the earrings all the more visible. The same ones he had gifted her.

Nikhil looked at her as she settled close beside him, gathering the loose end of the saree on her lap, a tiny bit of which rested on his lap. As soon as she took the first bite of the prasadam she blew turning to him.

"It's very spicy, all for you." She said, forwarding the bowl towards him.

Nikhil smiled, as he watched her plunge her hand into her handbag to retrieve the bottle of water. He took the bowl from her hand so that she could use both her hands to open the bottle of water.

"It's like they've unloaded an entire container of chilli powder into it." She gasped, before chugging in some more water.

"The Gods must prefer spicy food here." He remarked.

She grinned turning to him. She took back the bowl from his hand so that he could resume eating.

"Gone are the days when we'd get sweets made in ghee in temples." He muttered, as he began eating.

"How many temples do you go to, to say that with so much confidence?"

"Ah, point." He spoke eating. "I think I have gotten used to less spicy food too... this is actually spicy for me too."

"We can give it to somebody else if it's that bad." She suggested.

"No, I will never hear the end of it from Maa. She'll go on how I like Chilli Chicken but can't eat this. So, no thanks!"

Sharanya smiled, lowering her gaze. Her hand going to her hair where minutes ago Nikhil had fixed the short garland of flowers she had received after the Pooja, voluntarily. The little gesture still had her heart smiling widely with dreamy eyes.
