Sharanya watched her husband as he got ready for the day, packing his stuff. He had spared glances her way but had said nothing except the good morning. Sharanya did the same.
Nikhil was confused. Last time he erred, he had apologized from the bottom of his heart. But forget apologizing she didn't even look sorry. If anything she was throwing a massive attitude his way. What even!
But when it came to her sister, she would apologize even if it wasn't her fault. And now, for him, nothing. Forget apologizing, even if she just spoke to him nicely he'd forget all the anger. But, no. She conveniently ignored him and went out of the room.
At the breakfast table, she placed a glass full of juice before him. It was green juice today, a healthy blend of mint leaves, and other green leaves. He placed it away and turned to his mother, "Maa, can you make me a cup of coffee."
Sharanya stared at him from the other side of the counter as she stood inside the kitchen. Others also looked up. His mother looked at him and then at Sharanya.
Sharanya quickly began working on making that coffee giving a nod to her mother-in-law. Few minutes later, she placed the cup of coffee before him and sat on the chair next to his.
He looked at the cup and then at her.
"Everything okay?" His mother asked puzzled.
"Yes," they both replied in unison and exchanged a quick glance.
"Sharanya, can you take leave from work on Wednesday? One of my friend has house warming ceremony. Will you come with me?"
"Okay, Amma," she said, as others looked at her. How could she say no?
Nikhil wordlessly chewed on, lost in his thoughts.

Sharanya entered the room. It was Tuesday and Nikhil hadn't spoken to her properly yet. She couldn't believe that she actually missed his attention. He would look at her and then look away like she didn't exist.
She changed into comfortable home clothes and headed down stairs. She was getting tired of being angry. It was clearly not working. Something was off between them and she didn't like it a bit.
Sharanya was chopping vegetables for the dinner when Saahil waltzed into the kitchen diner and stood on the other side of the counter.
"Hey!"
"Hi," Sharanya smiled.
"What's on the menu today?" He asked, walking around the counter to enter the kitchen.
"Mix veg gravy," Sharanya answered.
"Are you and Nikhil not talking or something?" He asked picking a bottle from the refrigerator. He poured himself a glass and then walked out of the kitchen to stand on the other side of he counter.
"No, nothing like that," Sharanya lied.
"Good. So, how can I help?"
Sharanya looked up surprised, although she didn't show the surprise on her face. "It's okay, I can manage," she said.
