Sharanya had settled beside Nikhil, with her leggings folded up, once Arun and Gargi had left.
"What magic did you do? Gargi seemed normal now." Nikhil spoke up, watching her as she tried pulling up her leggings all the way up to her knees.
"I didn't do any magic. She just need someone to listen to her, understand her and I became that person." Sharanya replied, giving up on trying to pull her leggings further up.
He really admired how Sharanya made maturity seem like a cake walk.
"So, what plans for today? " She asked, gently moving her feet, splashing water gently.
"This is perfect for a Sunday isn't it? Perfect weather, cloudy sky and a stretch of sapphire pool.
Sharanya smiled. "Thankfully, it's not sunny and you don't have work on your mind."
Nikhil met her eyes with amusement. "So, you know how to swim?" He asked.
"Not really. I mean I know the basics like keep kicking your feet and move the arms. But I think that doesn't count as skill. You?"
"I took classes for around five years. All three of us did in fact. Shreya used to win a lot of medals. She is a state level swimmer."
"Wow, no wonder she's so in shape." Sharanya regretted saying that without thinking. That was an unnecessary comment, wasn't it?
"None of your siblings know how to swim?" Nikhil asked.
"Akshaya took classes for a year and then she gave up because she got excessive tanning."
Nikhil watched her feet as she lazily curved her toes and relaxed them. His eyes crinkled up as the sun peeped out of from the clouds letting a beam fall over them. "You said something about the sun, didn't you?" He said looking up at the sky.
Sharanya chuckled glancing at him. "Fold the sleeves of your shirt up, you could definitely use some of the vitamin D."
He smiled, putting his arm forward. She gazed at his arm and then at him. She took the cue and her fingers slowly folding up the sleeve. He then turned towards her, forwarding his right arm. Sharanya's cheeks warmed up as his face came closer to hers. She kept her gaze lowered, and folded up the sleeves. Her virgin heart had to learn to get used to having him so close.
"Done," she said.
"Thanks," He mumbled. It felt so nice to be pampered, to have all her attention and care. His hand found a way to hers. They both looked down at their hands. She turned her hand, facing her palm up. His fingers slowly glided along her palm settling into the grooves between her fingers. She slowly curved her fingers locking their fingers together, her fingertips pressing gently against the back of his hand.
Slowly their gazes met. A smile crept across Sharanya's face and she looked ahead. They sat wordlessly, their legs occasionally moving in the water.
"Sharanya," Nikhil spoke up after browsing through his thoughts on what he could talk about.
