The weekend went by anxiously without contact with Michael or Dean. I had no choice but to talk to him. So I slipped him a note as the class drew to an end. Michael gave me an odd glance, confused no doubt, but neutral. I didn't dare look at his eyes.

The bell rings and we file out, Michael and I subtly changing our course to an empty classroom, from the stream that heads to the cafeteria. Once the door shuts behind him, I lean against a desk and tell him what's happening.

He stays quiet throughout it all, his expression not changing, but his gaze fell low. I bite my lip once I finished, waiting for him to respond.

"It was inevitable I guess." Why did it feel like he was talking about us and not Bruce? Don't overthink it. "He could have known my voice or remembered any part of our interrogation." He shoves his hand into his pockets and I remember that he punched Bruce.

"Dean said, if he knew for sure though, he would have gotten to us already." He nods.

"That's usually how Bruce would operate. Any sense of sabotage and he would destroy the person."

"By destroy, you mean...completely neutralise?" I add a nervous laugh. He nods again and my fingers go to my collarbone. "Has Bruce spoken with you yet?"

He looks away from me, "He hasn't said anything yet, meaning he's definitely watching me. He's going to wait for me to slip up. But if by the Wednesday nothing happens, he'll want to meet."

"Why Wednesday?"

"It's when we usually meet at the warehouse." The room grows quiet as both our minds drift apart. "Let's go, we don't want to keep the others waiting." He doesn't wait for a response, opening the door for me. The room fills with noise again as the voices outside float in.

We head to the cafeteria together in after a long time. But we were both mute, and I was afraid the others were beginning to notice.

As we sit down, I catch Viv's conversation, "...dinner at least. Just a few of us." She looks toward Rose whose face was contorted in contemplation.

She sighs and relents. "Alright, ten people, and only dinner."

"And cake," Viv points out and types something down.

Ah, Rose's birthday was this week. "You guys making birthday plans?"

"It's all they've been arguing about," Katrina lets me know.

"I just don't feel like celebrating," Rose says adamantly. "At least not without her." Her sister. The table falls into an understanding silence. I spare a glance across the table and find him staring at me.

Finding it uncomfortable, I interrupt the silence. "Well, I say we should have fun, just like you would with her. She's not dead guys, we should remember that."
