I couldn't get out fast enough

I couldn't get out fast enough. Stalking down the block of buildings, I reach the car park I asked Isaac to drive my car to. Opening the door, I find the keys in the engine. I roll my eyes at Isaac's attempt at revenge.

Now I was at the park again. I had no intentions of going back to the house. Not yet at least. Since I didn't want to think about anything that happened today, I call someone instead.

"Hey Jer."

"It's been a while Cam." I missed that voice. I missed that nickname. I missed home. At least there I had Jerry and Matthew as friends. "So how's it going there?"

I sigh, recalling everything from the announcement of my father's engagement to the therapist I was forced to go to. Maybe the therapist was necessary.

Talk to a stranger about your life and its problems because it doesn't matter if they judge you? Sure.

"It's okay."

"Really?" I knew he caught on my hesitation. I leaned back into the park bench and breathe in, looking at the greying blue sky.

"Well, my dad's getting married to his girlfriend. And finally being true to his core personality of a greedy man whore. His girl- sorry fiancée, my future step-mom," I snort, "thinks I'm certifiably cuckoo and sent me to a private therapist. But we all know she just wants to know what my next crazy plan is."

I shrug as if he can see me, "I guess it fair enough. I did smash her champagne glasses and her car. That and punched a girl. Oh wait that was today. She'll get to know soon. The kids here are each rich enough to file a lawsuit with a panel of lawyers in nanosecond."

I sigh, "You'd think with that much plastic in her nose, it wouldn't break. But I'm pretty sure it did. Jerry if they ask who taught me that, I'm telling it was you."

He chuckles, "So that's what you've been up to? Punching girls and smashing glasses?" I imagined him stretching his lips into a grin.

"And crashing cars." And doing drugs. But he didn't need to know that. There was a certain limit to what you tell your best friend before they start judging you. I pause then realising something.

"Why aren't you saying anything?"

I hear him inhale loudly, "Actually, I don't know what to say Cam. This is some crazy load of information to take in. I know you'll deal with this hurt your own way. You're too independent and strong not to. But you've...you've changed massively. You wouldn't go around crashing cars before, which by the way is completely stupid."

His tone changes completely, "You could have gotten hurt! That was stupid and beyond reckless. Don't be dumb please. At least have a tiny bit of concern for yourself. Even if not yourself, then think about the people who care about you and-"

"That list is down to three people Jer. And I don't really know if my mom cares. She hasn't texted back in days." I laugh.

"She cares about you Cam." His voice was soft enough to be a whisper. And the words were so inadmissible. "You know she does. Your mom is trying to pick herself up these days. I see around the house and say hi whenever. She's still pretty down you're gone and the house is empty."
