"Your brother?" The freckled boy blinks back, his frustration showing on his twisted mouth, and pulled brows.

"You can't tell me you didn't see that coming." I didn't miss his bitter tone. I bite my lip and think over my own assumptions.

At first, I wondered if Scott was the mysterious guy Dean had brooded over, a lover perhaps. But then I noticed the hair. That's why Dean felt so familiar. His hair was naturally ginger, he had darkened it at some point no doubt, because it looked strange, between fake and real.

"I didn't think he was your brother. I thought he was a cousin! A relative you hated or something. How is he your brother?"

"Well, as far as I know, he came from my mother's womb too." I glare at him. "Do you want a DNA sample?"

I sigh exasperated. "Alright fine, calm down. I just...it's not like I had reason to do a background search on you!"

"Not even when I dated Viv?"

"I didn't care who she dated then. And don't try to stir this conversation anywhere else Fletcher." I ponder the name, "So it's Dean Fletcher?" I never did get his last name.

Scott jams his hands into his coat pockets, "It's actually Kieran Dean Fletcher."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"That's his real name. Kieran Fletcher. Dean is his middle name. He thought he was so cool when he stopped using his first name." He shakes his head, and looks off. "Does this answer your question?"

"I didn't know. That you had- have a brother, that Dean has a sibling. Nobody- your father...he never mentioned it when I met him."

I'd had conversations with Thomas Fletcher, all awkward and pretentious. Never did he mention an older son. But he'd mentioned plenty about Scott. His plan in mind was painfully obvious. Marry the two of us, join the empires.

What he didn't realise was, neither Belinda nor my father were ever going to hand over their business after all I've done. And with their merger, I had a feeling Belinda was going to be controlling everything till her death.

"He likes to pretend Kieran doesn't exist. Just like Kieran pretends we don't exist." Kieran, such a strange name. It sounded very Irish. "It's mutually beneficial."

"But...Michael knew didn't he?"

He lifts his shoulder in a half shrug, "It's not like he was wiped out from our memories. Michael knew him before he went off to college, when we were kids. He's the one that told me what Kieran was doing after he dropped out." He pinches the bridge of his nose, "Dealing drugs and doing god knows what."

He turns his head to me, his piercing gaze meeting mine. "Why would you get involved in that kind of life?" I was at a loss for words.

"I...it's not a choice I made Scott."
