"Camille," I heard someone call, snapping me out of the strange reverie I was in. I turn to see Rose approach me. The school day had ended, and we all had some practice or the other to be at. And I had been fluttering through the classes the entire day.

"Yeah?" my mind wandered why she was here. Just then, she raises the envelope in her hand with a light smile.

"I thought you could use cultural enlightenment, so here. You're invited to my concerto." I looked down at the pale blue envelope before grasping it.

Taking my eyes back to the girl in front of me, "Guess I could use education of the classics." She gave me a good hearted roll of the eyes before continuing down the hall.

"Don't be late!"

I check the card inside and see my name scrawled in beautiful calligraphy. It was an actual legit invite. She was casual about it so I responded sarcastically. But maybe, I should be appreciative.

I resolved to meet her after both our practices. So two hours later, I made my way down the same hallway, heading towards the music room. Viv had said Rose was putting extra hours into practicing her piece, skipping even her tennis practices.

When I neared the room, I heard the notes being played, strangely though, not classical tunes. Peeking through the glass pane of the door, I listened to her play the violin. Her lithe arm swung smoothly across the violin and her soft voice resonated through the room.

"Maybe it's the way you play your game." I leaned closer, listening to the words sung as she played the slow tune.

Dandelions by Ruth B. Rose sung it softer, slower. Her violin sung with her in harmony as her arm guided it through the chorus.

"And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime

And I'm pretty sure you are that love of mine."

My mouth went ajar as she reached the outro of the song. I had to refrain from gasping out loud. I clasped a hand over my mouth in pain.

"I'm in a field of dandelions

Wishing on every one that you'd be mine, mine."

Blinking fast, I pulled myself back to reality as I breathed in deeply. Rose sitting, did the same, heaving a heavy sigh.

I did not know whether I should approach her or walk away. But in the end it was obvious. Rose Carson did not want to see me. I was the cause of her pain. I was the reason she had to sing that song so tenderly. And I felt horrible for causing heartache of that sort. As a girl, who's gone through a similar heartbreak, I knew how she felt.

But I could never be on her level. So I walked away. But I walked away with the determination of fixing it.
