Chapter 37

I reached for my phone and dialed Austin's number.

"Hello?" He answers his phone, and his voice sounds husky like he just woke up.

"Woah, that's hot."

"Huh?"

"Uh nothing. Good morning babe. "

"Morning love. Is something wrong?"

"Oh nothing. I just had this really terrible dream, so I felt like talking to you."

"I'll be over there soon, love you."

"Love you too."

He hung up the phone, so I got out of bed and put some sweats on. I threw my hair up in a bun and put some mascara on. I don't feel like going anywhere today.

I sit around and watch some Bobs Burgers while I wait for Austin to get here. I wonder what he is coming all the way over here for. Surely not just because I had a nightmare.

I hear the doorbell ring, and I go over and open the door. He steps in and swoops me up in his arms. He kisses my forehead, and we go and sit on the couch.

"So what was this nightmare about?"

"Um, I can't remember really..."

"Come on, I know you remember."

"Basically, I wasn't good enough for you so you found someone else..."

"Haley, you are perfect for me. You're beautiful, funny, and strange in the best way. Don't ever second guess how much I love you."

"Okay, I love you too."

"Well I have something to tell you that should cheer you up!" He tells me.

"Yes?"

"As you know, I haven't been playing a lot of shows lately. I've wanted to spend time with you, Jade was in the hospital, and I just wanted some time off. But it's time for me to get back into it now, and we got asked to play a show tomorrow at the venue downtown. I wanted to know if you wanted to go?"

"Of course I want to go to your show!"

"You can bring Jade, Ashton, and Javin if you want."

"Definitely!"

I jump up from the couch and run into Jade and Ashton's room. They yell at me at first for waking them up, but they forgive me when I tell them we're going to see Of Mice and Men again! I need to rest up today for the big show tomorrow.

Austin decides to stay for the day, and we spend the day watching movies and cuddling on the couch. We watched some cartoons, a scary movie, and a comedy. Halfway through one of our movies, he pauses it to ask a question.

"Do you want to go to Waffle House?"

"It's 10:00 at night?"

"Anddd?"

"Sure, let's go!"

We jump in his car, and we head into town. We pull up to the little yellow Waffle House on the corner and walk inside. We take a seat at the bar-like area and watch them make our waffles. This place has the best breakfast food I've ever had. We chat with the waiter while we're waiting and eat soon after.

We pay the bill and head outside. It's really dark outside now. We walk farther out into the parking lot, and I see someone on the corner next to us in dark clothes, but I can barely see his face. He reaches into his pocket and pulls something out.

"I need cash." He mutters towards us.

Austin gently pushes me behind him and answers the stranger.

"I just used all of the cash I had on me in there, if you need-"

Before he could finish, the guy was running at him. Austin pushed me to the ground and by the time I got up again, the guy was already down the street. I looked over at Austin and see him on the floor. I crawled over to him and saw blood staining his clothes and beginning to stain the pavement.

Spring break is finally here for me! I'm in Georgia for the week, so I wrote this on the 8 hour drive. I should write another chapter on the way back too! Hope you guys liked it!
