Chapter 38

"Austin! Help, someone!" I yell to the people inside.

"I'm going to be okay Haley. Wow, this actually hurts pretty bad."

He raised his hand from his wound, and it was covered in his blood.

"Hold on Austin, I'm calling the police."

A couple people come rushing out of the restaurant while I dial 911. I tell them where we're at, and they tell me that help is on the way. They also ask if I can stay on the line. After I'm done talking, I look down at Austin, and he isn't responding to me anymore.

"Austin? Austin talk to me!"

Still no response. I start to hear faint siren sounds, and I hold Austin until the ambulance arrives. They pull in and take out the gurney to load him onto. I run to Austin's car and follow the ambulance as it drives to the hospital. I have been here way too often lately.

I wake up to Austin squeezing my hand. I've been sitting in his room waiting for him to wake up all night.

"Haley?"

"I'm here Austin. How do you feel?"

"Okay I guess-"

The doctor walks in once he realizes Austin is now awake.

"Austin Carlile. How are you doing?"

"I feel okay doc, so what's the report?"

"The man didn't stab anything major which is good for you. You should be able to go home in about a day or so."

"I need to leave tonight."

"I'm afraid that-"

"There is no debating this. I have a show tonight, and I promised the fans."

I chime in, "Austin, everybody would understand if you can't be there. They would want you to be healthy."

The doctor tells him we'll see how it goes today as he leaves the room.

"Jade, Ashton, and the guys are downstairs. I told them I would let them know when you woke up."

He looks at me and tells me he loves me.

"I love you too."

I kiss him on the cheek and head out of the room to go get everyone. I take the elevator down and see them sitting in the chairs, half asleep.

"He's awake now guys."

They jump up from the chairs and step into the elevator with me.

We reach Austin's room, and I knock before we walk in.

"What happened dude?" Alan asks as we gather in the tiny room.

"This guy just came out of nowhere. I pushed Haley aside and he just got me. I got a pretty good look at his face though. I want to catch this guy. But, that will have to wait until after the show tonight."

Aaron looks surprised and asks, "You just got stabbed, how're you going to play a show tonight?!"

"The doctor said nothing important was injured, and he said I can go home by tonight anyways. I can do it."

They look at me as if silently asking if I was actually going to let him do this. I shake my head at the thought, but we know there is no stopping him.

"Well, you need to rest nonetheless. We'll leave you to sleep and eat this delicious food." I kiss him on the cheek and leave with everyone else.

Ashton speaks up in the hallways, "He might think he can do it, but he definitely needs more than a days rest after being stabbed! It doesn't matter that it didn't injure him too bad, it's still an injury!"

"You don't have to persuade me!" I agree with her. "But, he wants to do it for the fans. I'm afraid it's going to be hard to get him to change his mind."
