Chapter 10: A Demon's Mercy?! The Queen's determination revealed!

It has been two weeks since Zane had last opened his eyes in the morning. He has been kept in a constant state of homeostasis by the nurses of the castle. Maybe this is because the head nurse in charge at the moment was queen Noelle herself. Noelle had been keeping constant watch over Zane for the last two weeks, barely ever leaving his side! She would stare at his charts, trying to see exactly what it is. She even started to looking into the rumors of demons and the different powers that they have. But even in two weeks, she has found no trace of why Zane had not woken up. She broke her attention for a moment when she recognized certain markings in the demonology book she was reading. Six punctures holes, in two rows of three, shaped like a circle.

Noelle: "That's got to be it! What are these marking? They look...familiar..."

True enough, they were familiar. Noelle would let her curiosity get the best of her and she would lift up Zane's shirt. Lo and behold, there they were. Noelle could come to one conclusion. Since they were the same markings Zane had on his sides, and the picture shows them being caused from vines, she realized when she saved him, the vines that were attached to him were these vines. She would flip to the page explaining the proper information about those vines. The book would reveal all to her.

'If these markings are found on someone, they are most likely the results of the Leeching Vines, of a powerful demon. The leeching vines will sprout from the ground, instantly, and will dig into the flesh. Once they are settled the vines will begin wiggling and writhing, as they have begun draining your life force. Once the vines drain enough life force, the victim will be unable to move, almost paralyzed. If the vines continue past this point, the victim will go unconscious as they have lost too much life force to be awake. The person will remain comatose until the life force is returned. Too much time without their life force will result in death. Your best chance is to find the source of the vines (The demon who used them) and ask them for the life force back. While it is improbable the demon will return it, it isn't unheard of. However, this method is highly unrecommended. If someone you know has these markings, and is comatose do your best to cherish time with their body, for it is not long for this world after being comatose. The longest life lived in that state (without life force) was 20 days.'

Noelle: "No...I-it can't be true...I can't lose him!"

She says to herself, as she gets determined. She was going to get to that demon who hurt Zane...no matter the cost. She would ring the nurse's call bell and instruct them to watch Zane. She left and would march into Brooke's room. She would kick down the door to find Brooke in her bed, sleeping. Brooke would awaken and stare at her sister with an angry glare. She would stand out of bed, dressed in a robe and her pajama pants. She would take off the robe and put on a tank top. As she took off her robe, Noelle would see the Lightweight championship for the Kabara Mixed Martial Arts Allegiance. She won it a few nights ago, and is very proud of it.

Brooke: "What brings you here, Noelle? After all, you and I haven't said a word to each other in over a week. Did you come here to talk down to me? Is that what you want?"

Noelle: "N-no...Brookie, look, I-"

Brooke: "Don't 'Brookie' me, Noelle! What could you possibly want that you decided to bust into my room without so much as knocking?!"

Noelle: "I found a way to bring Zane back, but...I need some time. I need your help to learn how to fight better. Can you help me or not?"

Brooke: "And why should I bring that dumbass back from whatever brink of death he's on?! What do I get out of this? You get your plaything back, and he gets to live more. Where's MY benefit?"

Noelle: "I will get you an actual challenge for the Lightweight title. I know you said they haven't been challenging you with your title defenses. So, help me, and I will get you the chance to show off you true skills."
