Volume 2 Chapter 11: A Winter's Brawl! The Queen's Gambit.

Noelle quickly took the opportunity to rush towards Sage, thinking she couldn't possibly be as powerful as she was scary. It wouldn't take Noelle long to figure out that she, indeed, was as scary as she was powerful. Noelle jumped into the air and went for a heel hook kick, but that was immediately stopped when a tentacle came out of Sage's back. It grabbed Noelle's foot and threw her off to the side before appearing behind her and hitting her in the face. The tentacle soon was used as a whip, hitting Noelle in the leg and cutting her. It drew blood, and made Noelle wince. Noelle quickly grabbed her leg and went to freeze around the cut but soon found that she couldn't use her ice powers, much to the very clear amusement of Faceless Sage. She grit her teeth and stood up, as three more tentacle found their way out of Faceless Sage's back.

Noelle: "What the fuck is she?! I...I don't think I can possibly do this."

Sage: "What's the matter, queenie? Are you scared? Well, it is to be expected since, I thrive on fear! Be afraid of me... I get more powerful the more that people fear me. So, let's see what we can do now!"

Noelle grit her teeth and scoffed as she approached Sage, using her speed to try and appear behind her. But, when she got there, Sage was already facing her direction. Noelle was shocked before a tentacle grabbed her by her leg and threw her across the field. Sage quickly rushed towards Noelle's flying body before jumping into the air. Sage connected with a furious flurry of fast feet and fists. Noelle would be too petrified to fight back and so she got hit with every strike that Sage threw at her. It wasn't until Noelle was against the wall, that she took initiative and swiftly grabbed Sage's fists and feet. She threw her away before speeding towards where she was falling to, and catching her with a thunderous kick to the spine and held her there.

Sage coughed up blood before Noelle threw her into the air slightly. She jumped up to catch her before spinning and dropping her down with another kick to the stomach, sending both of them crashing to the floor. Noelle quickly jumped up to her feet and put some distance between herself and Sage. Sage got up, slowly but surely. Despite not having eyes, Noelle could feel that signature Conven death glare, emanating from Sage. Sage seemed to shake off the damage before one of the tentacles shot forward and tried to grab Noelle. Noelle jumped over it, and rushed towards Sage, charging up a huge attack. She managed to dodge every tentacle that was shot at her before attempting to blast Sage with her strongest attack.

Noelle: "KANAKIRIGOE NO FUROSTOBOMU!!"

She screamed out before staring at Sage. She was in shock, backing away slowly and trying to run before Sage's tentacles grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close to her. Sage merely scoffed before holding Noelle upside down. Sage slammed her against the wall before hitting her against the floor. After doing this repeatedly, Sage stopped and looked her in the eyes.

Sage: "Did you forget what my power was? Or did you just not know what me and Rosemary can do, darling sister in law?"

Noelle: "Ngh what the hell are you even talking about? I never... fought you or Rosey!"

Sage quickly turned Noelle to face the others, as her body seemed to face the other way without needing to turn around. She looked at everyone before pointing at Bunni.

Sage: "Bunni! Darling! I've missed you so much, my friend! It's been forever! Could you explain to our lovely fledgling what my powers are?"

Bunni looked at Sage and quickly chuckled before shaking her head. She slowly approached the cube and looked at Noelle.

Bunni: "Her powers are power cancel, which can completely neutralize the magical powers of anyone she cuts. Typically, Rosemary does these cuts with the razor sharp pins she keeps in her hair, but Sage... she uses her razor sharp tentacles to cut people. Anybody who is cut by those tentacles can't use their magic and have to rely on their physical strength. But, given she's a demon... it's very difficult for anybody to keep up with her. So, it's sort of like a flex of her dominance. She forces most people to challenge her physically while cutting off their magic supply."
