It was a long and quiet walk to get back to the castle from the garden. Well, not long, but way too quiet. Zane had gotten back to his senses, in some sort sense, and looked at Cascade before smiling at her and gently patting her head. He pushed her gently as he cleared his throat.

Zane: "Well, my little angel, it's time to go and relax. I'm going to cook you some spaghetti, like you asked. Alright?"

Cascade: "No! You said chicken nuggets! I want chicken nuggets, Uncle Zane!"

Zane, chuckling: "Yes, yes. Chicken nuggets. I forgot that is what you wanted, my darling angel. Just give me an hour, and I'll have your chicken nuggets ready. Now, run along and play."

He smiled at her as she ran into the castle, but once she was out of view, he sat down to on the bench outside of the castle and looked out towards the garden. He clenched his fists and jaw as he looked up at the sky.

Zane: "Damnit, Bunni! Why?! Why couldn't you have just been any more cautious than what you were?! Why did you let your guard down and underestimate that damned Brooklyn? Why couldn't we just kill Brooke? Why did you just have to leave my like this? Together forever! What happened to always and forever?! You promised me that you would never leave my side! We aren't supposed to be apart like this!"

During his rant to himself, he hadn't noticed that Chylled had snuck up next to him and was sitting on the bench, next to him. Chylled merely listened to the rant and hummed softly before turning to face his brother.

Chylled: "So... this is really beating you up, isn't it?"

Zane turned to face his brother and gripped his fists harder, piercing his palm as he slowly looked away.

Zane: "Brother... how much of that did you hear?"

Chylled: "I heard what I believe to be enough, brother. Hopefully, this doesn't beat you up more than it already is. That is the last thing that I want. But, my question to you is, how are you holding up?"

Zane: "I'm holding-..."

Chylled: "Don't lie to me, Zane. I know the truth about the situation, and I was around back when you both first got together. I've seen it all, so you can't lie to me about anything. Now, the truth."

Zane: "...Chylled, do you know what it's like? To lose someone who has been there with you through the toughest of your challenges? The person who has been your rock when you had nobody to have your back? What it's like to have your soul ripped from your body in front of your very eyes? Do you know what that kind of thing does to a man? It breaks him. It makes him break down, inside and out. I haven't eaten any of the food I've been brought. All the food has only been giving to Jenny, who pledged her undying allegiance to me. She wants my attention and I've heard the rumors she's spreading. But, I don't care about them. She does what I ask, and that's all that matters. Noelle tries to make me smile and engage in conversation but whenever she brings this up, I just...break down and ignore her. I run away like a child who can't fathom the idea of infinite death. That's how it's been going. I'm malnourished from lack of food, dehydrated from crying and not drinking water, and constantly depressed. I can't keep any of the hobbies I used to have, at all. The only one I've kept was a secret one that I keep holding down but...it's been a flop lately."

Chylled was quiet as he spoke. Nodding slightly as he closed his eyes and leaned his head forward, laying it in his hands.

Zane: "Truth be told, brother... I've never been closer to giving in. I've been contemplating the use of heart slowing toxins, before I use the angel's knife..."

Chylled's head shot up as he looked at Zane and gripped his knees. He knew the only thing capable of doing any irreparable damage to a demon's body was an angel's weapon. Angel knives, swords and angel bullets. Those things both hurt the worst of all, and do the most damage.
