Chapter 16 - Apprehensive

Minutes later, only a few buses arrived. No one knew if something happened to the other classes. Anyways, after all that drama with Makoto and the mayor. Everyone went home. But no one could sleep at night. Everyone was scared of the killer and the possibility of being murdered.

It was 10 PM, Makoto couldn't sleep so he called Holly, but she didn't answer. Immediately, Makoto thought of two different possibilities. She's either sleep, or...

Makoto actually got really scared. He called Holly again. ... No answer. He called Holly again. As Makoto was calling her, he thought of when he found out of the PE Teacher's death. No answer. Makoto's heart started pumping really fast. He called Joey. Joey answered.

JOEY: Hey Mako-

MAKOTO: Joey! Have you talked to Holly lately? She hasnt answered her phone!

JOEY: Why would I talk to Holly? I don't even have Lyla's number yet... I'm not gonna steal your girl...

MAKOTO: Seriously Joey, whens the last time you talked to her?!

JOEY: I don't know! During the field trip, I guess.

Makoto changed positions in his bed. Joey smirked.

JOEY: So you're thinking about her when you're in the bed, huh?

MAKOTO: Joey! Be serious for once!

JOEY: It was just a joke!

Makoto and Joey were quiet for a few seconds.

MAKOTO: I'm sorry for yelling. I'm just, I don't know how I feel.

Joey had a serious look on his face.

JOEY: Go. Go to her house. There's a saying my dad would tell me. "Never interfere with a man on his way to meet his woman."

Makoto was confused.

JOEY: Go to Holly's house and see if everything's okay!

Suddenly, the unexpected happened. Holly called Makoto. He was surprised and very relieved.

MAKOTO: J- Joey, I'll call you back!

JOEY: Wh-

Makoto hung up Joey and answered Holly.

MAKOTO: Holly! What happened! Are you okay?

Holly yawned. She was tired.

HOLLY: I'm sorry, I just got out of the shower.

Makoto had the longest sigh.

HOLLY: What happened?

MAKOTO: I was just calling to check if you were alright.

HOLLY: I'm sorry, I should have called you sooner. But I was occupied.

MAKOTO: No no, its okay.

Holly yawns again.

HOLLY: Well, Imma get some sleep. Good night.

MAKOTO: You're tired?! Well, good night.

The call ended. Makoto turned off his phone, and laid on his bed. Thinking. He didn't know what would happen the next day and after that.

The next day, Tsuga woke Makoto up and told him there would be no school for the next three days. Makoto got excited and went back to sleep.

Hours later, Makoto woke back up. And didn't know what to do. He then thought about last night when Joey told him to go to Holly's house. Thing is, Makoto actually didn't know where she lived. She obviously lived in the village. But he didn't know exactly where. Makoto texted Holly.

"School is shut down, can I go to your house so you can show me the map?"

Makoto had to psyche himself up for 5 minutes to send that text. Holly responded seconds after.

"Of course you can. Can't text you my adress over phone. Let's meet up at the park in ten minutes."
