Percy dreamt of Annabeth. But it wasn't a good dream, he never had good dreams. It started off alright. They were sitting by the canoe lake, and his legs were dangling in the water. He handed her a blue cupcake, "Happy birthday, Annabeth."
She smiled, "Aww!"
She took the cupcake and pulled one of the red loveheart decoration off and fed it to him. He took it between his teeth and swallowed it whole. She laughed.
"I love you, Wise Girl," Percy said. She smiled, "I love you too, Seaweed Brain."
He took her hand, and together, they dove into the water. They swam deep down, a bubble around Annabeth's head so she could breath.
Suddenly, the water changed to fire. Wind whipped their hair as they fell through the flaming sky. Annabeth screamed as they plumetted, the ground becoming clear. It too, was burning. Gaea's face appeared on the ground, and she opened her mouth just in time for them to fall in. Then they were back at the canoe lake, and Percy was handing Annabeth her cupcake. She scowled at it, "Really, idiot? You're terrible at baking!"
She stood and threw the cupcake into the lake. She turned to stride away, "Don't bother coming to our date tonight."***
Percy woke covered in sweat. He noticed almost immediately that he was tied to a chair. His right wrist was turned over, and in his forearm was a needle that connected him to some machine thing. He pulled against his bonds, but a burst pain shot up his arm from the needle. He yelped.
"Don't struggle," Gaea said as she came in the room, "It will hurt a lot more if you struggle."
She pressed a button on the machine and blue liquid leaked from his arm and up the cord that connected it to the machine, dropped into a small vial. Once the vial was full, Gaea pressed the off button, and took the vial over to a shelf and placed it there with the eight other vials of multicoloured liquid.
"What are you doing to me?" He asked. Gaea smiled, "I'm nullifying your fatal flaw."
"What?"
"The reason you neglected to accept my training was because you are too loyal to your friends and family. That is your fatal flaw working."
Percy frowned, "If you think I'm going to join you after you've "nullified" my fatal flaw, you're wrong."
"You'd be surprised, Percy."
She carefully pulled the needle from his arm and he winced. She put a small, circular Band-Aid on the small speck of red blood pooling on his forearm, and he was reminded of getting vaccinations when he was younger. But not really, because a) that was on his shoulder, and b) the doctors didn't tie him to the chair.
"What is that stuff?"
Gaea gestured to the vials, "Each of these vials is essence from a different demigod."
"There are other demigods here?"
"There used to be. They were my test runs, and they all died except one. A daughter of Hecate. With the vials, I can either take away, or add something. I gave the daughter of Hecate the power of shapeshifting."
She pressed a button on the machine, "Send down Kelli."
A moment later, the empousa came through the door, "Yes mistress?"
"Please take Percy to his room. Make sure you lock the door."
Kelli nodded and came over to untie him. Before she did, however, she said, "If you try anything, I'll knock you out again. With my metal leg."
"Duly noted," Percy said dryly. Kelli untied him and pulled him out of the seat. The two of them walked through the house to his bedroom. Once inside Percy turned on Kelli, "I trusted you."
"I know," she replied, "Don't trust anyone here, Percy. Not even me."
She turned and left, locking the door behind her. Percy went into the bathroom and pulled off his clothes. He turned the shower on. While he was locked in his room, he might as well make good use out of it and clean off all the dirt and mud. As he went to get in the shower, however, he saw a glinting object in his pocket. He pulled it out, revealling the drachma he'd put there the morning of Rachel's vision. Laughing incredulously, he laid the drachma on the sink and climbed into the shower. After washing of the dirt and grime, he left the shower on and climbed out. He wrapped a towel around his waist before throwing the drachma into the steam and water of the shower. After a bit of thinking, he said, "Oh, Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, accept my offering. Show me Sally Jackson."
He figured he owed his mom a little disclosure. An image appeared in the water. Sally was crying, and Paul was comforting her.
"Mom!" Percy called. Sally looked up and gasped, "Percy!"
He sent his mom and step-dad a smile, "Hey guys! How are you?"
"Where are you?" his mom demanded. He winced, "Um... Tartarus."
"How did you call us? Why are you in a towel?"
"I found a drachma in my pocket. And um... I'm in a towel, because I am?"
Sally frowned. Percy continued before she could tell him that was a terrible answer, "Anyway mom, this is the only time I can call you. I will probably be in Tartarus for the rest of my life, which may not be much longer. I just want to say I love you, and that I'm okay. And you need to move on. You need to keep living."
"I'm going to miss you Percy," she whispered.
"I know. I'll miss you too. But your lives can't end just because mine probably will. Cry for a bit, but then bounce back. And maybe never talk to the gods again as well. Don't let Dad in."
"Okay."
Percy smiled, "Bye mom, I love you."
"I love you too, Percy."
He slashed his arm through the message, and it dissipated. He wiped a tear off his cheek. He got dressed back into his jeans and t-shirt and walked back into the bedroom. A knock sounded on the door.
"Come in!" Percy called. Gaea walked through the wall, "Did you have a nice chat with your mom?"
Percy frowned, "How did you know about that?"
"I suppose you could say I was eavesdropping. Hold out your arm."
She pulled out a syringe filled with green liquid. He shrank back. She rolled her eyes, "Come on Percy. Do you want to be trapped in this room for eternity?"
"Is that someone's essence?" he asked.
"No!" she looked horrified, "That would be like wearing someone's underpants!"
Percy raised and eyebrow, and she huffed a sigh, "Wearing someone else's underpants puts your bottom up against where their bottom has previously been and is really gross. Ingesting someone's essences would be like rubbing your bottom against their's..."
"I don't need a explanation," Percy interrupted, "Just hurry up and get it over with."
He held out his arm. He didn't plan on staying in this room for the rest of his life. Gaea pushed up his sleeve and stabbed the syringe into his shoulder.
"Ouch!" Percy yelped. Gaea just grinned. To get his mind off the pain, he asked, "Do primordial goddess apparations even wear underpants?"
"I'm not barbaric!" Gaea hissed, "Of course I wear underpants!"
"Good to know."
She pulled the syringe out, "Sleep. If you don't you'll be in pain for weeks."
Percy decided to heed her warning and lay back on the bed. It wasn't long before his eyes shut, and he slipped into darkness.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: Sorry that was kind of boring. Don't worry, it'll get more interesting hopefully. I'm plannign on a massive time skip, or we'll be at the boring part for ages.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this!
