"Well have you seen it at all in the past four years?" Annabeth asked desperately. Chiron shook his head, "I'm sorry Annabeth. I haven't seen it since the last time Percy used it."
Annabeth sighed. She'd searched the Big House straight after breakfast, but hadn't found any trace of Anaklusmos, or Riptide, anywhere. She'd been interrogating Chiron ever since. Mr. D walked in, "What are we looking for?"
"Riptide. Percy's old sword."
Mr. D thought for a moment and then shook his head, "Never heard of it."
Annabeth growled in frustration and stormed out of the Big House. She stormed all the way back to the Athena cabin, flopping down on her bed.
Then it was like a light flipped on in her head. There was one more person she could ask.***
Annabeth stood in the shower block minutes later, steam forming in the shower she'd picked. She threw a drachma in, "Oh Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, show me Sally Jackson."
An image formed in front of her. Sally Jackson was sitting down in her room on Olympus. She looked up at Annabeth and yelped, before covering her mouth.
"What is it?" Percy's voice came from her bathroom.
"Nothing, Nothing!" Sally called out quickly, "I just spilt some tea. I'm cleaning it up now."
She turned back to Annabeth, and whispered, "Now's not really a good time. I'll call you back in a moment."
Then she swiped her hand through the message. Annabeth stood in the shower block for a few minutes. People came and went, some staring odly at Annabeth. Piper waved at her when she walked out of the shower. After about twenty minutes, an iris-message appeared in front of her.
"Sorry about that," Sally said, "Percy just came to check on me and I heard all about your argument and I'm pretty sure him seeing you would not be great."
"That's okay," Annabeth said, "I have a question for you."
Sally smiled, "Ask away."
"Do you know where Riptide is?"
Sally's face darkened, "You want it to kill him, don't you?"
Annabeth shook her head, "Just to get him off the throne."
Sally sighed, "I do know where it is."
Annabeth grinned, "Thank you Sally!"
"It's in my apartment, in his bedroom. I left the room exactly as it was when he left. It should be on his bedside table."
"Thank you so much!" Annabeth said excitedly. She swiped through the message and practically ran out of the shower block.***
Thalia went with Annabeth into Manhatten. It was a short drive, with Argus being the driver. They arrived outside Sally's apartment block and Annabeth turned to Argus, "Stay here. Don't get out of the van for any reason."
Argus gave a nod and Annabeth and Thalia climbed out. The two girls walked up the stairs to Sally's apartment.
"Door's locked," Annabeth said, jiggling the doorhandle. Thalia rolled her eyes, "Of course it's locked. Sally's not stupid."
Thalia pulled a pin from her pocket and inserted it into the keyhole. After a few moments of Thalia wiggling the pin around in the keyhole, the door clicked open. Thalia pushed into the apartment, quickly but thoroughly checking for any threats. Once she gave the all clear, Annabeth walked in. She made straight for Percy's old bedroom. Like Sally had said, it was exactly as it had been for the last four years, exactly how Percy had left it. And there, on his nightstand, was a ballpoint pen. Annabeth picked it up and uncapped it. Riptide sprung open, and Annabeth grinned, "Time to dethrone a tyrant."***
Percy knew they were coming for him. He had known it ever since he heard the prophecy from Gaea's lips, ever since he sent Annabeth away. He couldn't prevent it. He should've just killed Annabeth where she stood.
But he couldn't.
Even after four years spent in Tartarus, becoming Gaea's pawn, and the Tyrant King of Olympus, he was still too weak to kill her. And he hated himself for allowing her to make her way into his heart. It made it too hard to do anything.
He had to kill her. He had to find some way to do it. If he didn't, she would destroy him.
First, he had to find some way to make Nico di Angelo fight for him.
