Annabeth arrived at Sally Jackson's apartment at aproximately 4:30pm. She often visited Percy's mom, especially on the hard days. Today was Percy's twenty-second birthday, and she was going to Sally's to have a little celebration that Sally held every year on Percy's birthday. After a little memorial service that Sally liked to have, they were going over to Central Park to have a little party with Tyson, Jason, Leo, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Will, Nico, Rachel, Grover, Thalia, Reyna and of course Percy's family Paul and Estelle. Yesterday Annabeth helped Sally prepare a blue cake with little white chocolate seashells and gold sparkles.
About a week after Percy had been thrown into Tartarus, Poseidon had shown up at Sally's apartment, trying to explain and apologize. Sally had slammed the door in his face. He hadn't tried to speak to her since, and he certainly wasn't coming to Percy's birthday party. He would never be invited to those things. Annabeth also did her best to avoid the gods, except her mother, Apollo and Artemis. Even though Aphrodite was on team Percy, Annabeth had always tried to avoid the love goddess.
She knocked on the door to Sally's apartment. The smiling woman opened it, "Hello Annabeth! Come in."
She walked into the apartment. Little four-year-old Estelle was running around the kitchen with a big smile plastered on her face, and Paul was chasing her. They stopped when Annabeth came in, because Estelle screamed, "Annie!" and launched herself into Annabeth's arms. Annabeth laughed, "Hey Estelle, hey Paul."
She put Estelle down and Paul came to give her a hug. Paul was like family to Annabeth, since she'd visited so often in the last four years.
"Come into the kitchen," Sally said. Annabeth followed her into their kitchen. On the bench was the cake. Sally handed Annabeth some blue irises and a blue cupcake. Together, The Jackson-Blofis' plus Annabeth walked down to the Manhatten cemetary. They navigated the gravestones until they came to Percy's.Percy Jackson
BelovedThey hadn't known what else to put of the gravestone, so they'd kept it simple. They couldn't very well write Died falling to Hell, although that would've made it interesting. Sally put a picture of Percy up underneath the gravestone, and Annabeth placed the irises and the cupcake with the photo. Sally started crying as she whispered, "Happy twenty-second, Percy."
Out of nowhere, an iris-message popped up in front of them, and they all gasped.
"Hey," Percy said, grinning.
"Percy?" Annabeth asked incredulously. It couldn't be!
"Hey Wise Girl," he said, "Nice to see you."
Annabeth choked out a sob, "You're alive!"
"Yep," he grinned, "Alive and kicking."
Annabeth took in his appearance. His jet black hair was messy and overgrown, his sea green eyes as beautiful as ever. He was slightly paler than he usually was, but that was probably from four years of living in Tartarus. Above his left eyebrow was a hideous set of scars that marred his beautiful face. But Annabeth didn't mind them. Her Seaweed Brain was alive!
"Where'd you get the drachma?" Paul asked. Percy got a mischevous smile on his face. It actually looked a bit evil, "I stole it from a demigod."
"There are other demigods in Tartarus?"
Percy shook his head. Annabeth's eyes widened, "You're back on earth!"
He grinned, "Hell yeah!"
Sally cried harder, "Where are you? I'm coming to get you!"
He shook his head, "No Mom, you can't come get me. I have to stay where I am."
"But..."
"Listen Mom, Annabeth, Paul, you have to go to Camp Half-Blood. When you get there, make sure everyone stays inside. No one can leave."
"Why?" Annabeth asked, "What's going on."
"I can't tell you," Percy said, "But you have to trust me, okay? Please just trust me. I'll see you soon."
"Tell us what's happening!"
"Something big. I'm sorry but I can't tell you. Please, just go to Camp Half-Blood, keep everyone safe until I come, okay?"
Annabeth looked at Sally, who said, "Anything, Percy. Just please come quickly."
"I'll try."
With that the iris message cut off. Sally turned to Annabeth, "Call the others, make sure they get to Camp Half-Blood safely."
Annabeth nodded and pulled out a drachma. She walked around till she found a fountain, then threw the drachma in.
"Oh Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, accept my offering. Show me Jason Grace."
An image appeared of Jason and the others, all sitting and waiting at Central Park. Jason sat up straight when he saw her, "Annabeth!"
She smiled, "Hey Jason, can you guys all go to Camp Half-Blood? It's urgent."
He frowned, "What's going on?"
"I don't know. I just got warned that we all have to go to Camp Half-Blood and stay there."
He nodded, "Okay. I trust you."
She ended the message.
