I pace up and down the bridge of the massive S.H.I.E.L.D ship. Agents are working frantically on computers around me as Maria and Fury scream commands. "We have him but where the fuck did he send the tesseract?" Fury screams in frustration. "Maybe it's with Barnes?" Maria asks, anxiously. Fury's eyes are wide.

"He'll be fucking furious at himself when we get him back. He thought he was free.. never to be under the control of someone again. Killing." Maria's voice is low, pained. Fury's eyes dart to mine and I freeze. A shiver shoots up my spine but when I open my mouth to ask him what's going on I see the team come through the door. I sprint to Steve and he grabs me into a bone crushing hug. He looks so worried. "Hey, It's okay. We'll find the tesseract and Buck. Don't worry." I press my lip to his but his eyes are glued to Fury's.

"Briefing room. Now." He snaps to the team and pulls me with him. His body is tense and rigid and he's silent the whole way down to the room. We sit around the large oval table and I'm not surprised to see that Thor has joined us. Sam and Clint are next to me while Tony, Nat, Maria and agent Coulson sit on the opposite side. I try to hold Steve's hand but he pulls away and is suddenly on his feet. His hands are balled into fists and he looks pissed. "I don't like this. Something's off." He's yelling and pacing the room now. Everyone's eyes are on him, mirroring his anxiousness. "Relax, Cap. Loki got caught. End of story. He'll not saying anything yet but he'll tell us where the tesseract is and we can end this shit soon." Tony blurts out but he's just as worried as Steve. I know it. "My brother is stubborn. But he is not stupid. I agree with the Captain. Loki has never made being captured this easily." I bite my lip as I look around the room. Everyone is silent. "So, what's the plan then? Torture? Beat it out of him? What?" Clint asks, his eyes darting from Thor's to Fury's. Thor shakes his head, smirking. That's exactly what he wants. Loki's whole being thrives on disarray and chaos. Watching you all fall apart will only add to his pleasure." Thor says, rubbing his chin and thinking hard.

"So what then?" Tony asks, frustrated now. "We just sit here and wait for him to spill the beans?"

The awkward silence is interrupted by Bruce's quiet voice. "Actually. I got a look at Loki's sceptre when he was brought in and I'm not sure but I think I can maybe use the gamma radiation emanating from it to locate the tesseract somehow. But I'll need help. Tony?"

Tony is on his feet, rubbing his hands together. "Banner, you're a genius. Let's get to work." The two of them leave and everyone stares after them, blankly. "I'm going to go reach our to some of my contact in Europe, see if they can get eyes on Bucky and Selvig." Nat snaps and leaves the room in a hurry. The rest of the team leave while Hill and Fury speak to each other, quietly. Steve joins them and I'm left looking across from agent coulson. "How you doing?" He asks, an apologetic smile stretching across his pale face.

I shrug and try to smile. "Oh you, know, living the dream." He chuckles and comes around the table to sit beside me. "I know this must be very difficult for you but I think you're doing amazingly. You're tough. I can see why Tony is so proud of you." He pats my shoulder and I return his kind smile. "We'll sort this mess out, miss Hart. The Avengers will do what they do best and win. Especially with Captain Rogers leading the way." He stares at Steve and looks like a little kid. I raise my eyebrows and try to supress the smile pulling at my lips. "Hey, I know this isn't the right time but do you think you could ask him to sign my Captain America trading cards? They're vintage." His cheeks turn scarlet as I bite my bottom lip, smiling. "I'll see what I can do. And call me Ellie." I wink and he smiles. "I like this one, you've got a good woman here, Captain." He leaves the room just as Steve walks over to me taking me by the hand. He looks exhausted. "Come on, let's get out of here." He starts to pull me towards the door but I stop him. "Steve, I need to talk to Fury. I need to ask him something" His eyes goes wide when he spots the look on my face.

"I don't think now is the time, El." I stare into his panicked eyes and agree, reluctantly. He's right. Loki isn't going anywhere. We need to concentrate on finding the tesseract and Buck.

I get back to my room, suddenly exhausted. It's half 1 in the morning and all I want to do is sleep. I kiss Steve at the door and try to pull him into the room but he doesn't budge. "What's wrong?" I ask, worried at the expression on his face. "I'm exhausted, Ellie. Is it okay if I go to my room and try get some sleep?" I stare at his eyes but he's avoiding mine. "Um, okay." I say. He kisses my cheek and turns to leave. "Steve!" I yell after him, suddenly feeling very worried. "Are we okay?"

He turns back to me and his hands are holding either side of my face. "We're fine. Try to get some sleep." He kisses my head and leaves. I close the door and stand with my back to it, resting my tired body against the cool metal. Something's wrong. He's acting so strange. I try to convince myself that he's just tired and worried about everything but the tingling sensation in my body makes me nervous.

I change into a pair of sweatpants and a tank top and lie on my bed, I'm exhausted but too anxious to sleep. Images of Loki and my mother plague my mind. Two hours go by and I feel worse. I toss and turn but can't shut my brain off. I sigh in frustration and get out of bed. I decide I'm going to grab something to eat out of boredom and try to find the small kitchen located a couple of floors below. I pass room after room and the anxiety in my body intensifies. The cold grey walls and big metallic doors everywhere makes this place feel like a prison. I feel like I've been walking for miles. Where the fuck is the kitchen?

I turn a corner and I'm faced with a long corridor with what looks like hundred of metal doors lining each side. The is harsh, blinding. It burns my eyes. I stumble along the corridor trying to find the door to the kitchen. It's never ending. I look back and feel panic rising in me. This is wrong. It's all wrong.

I start to run, panic rising in me as I struggle for breath. I try to open some door but they're all locked. The fluorescent light, overhead, starts to flicker, making my vision blurry. I lean against the cold wall and try to concentrate on breathing. Calm down. You're fine. You're fine.

My eyes are closed tightly and I focus on slowing my breathing down. Then, a voice in the distance makes the blood drain from my face. A familiar, kind, feminine voice is calling my name. She sounds like she's in pain. I run down the corridor, trying to fins her. My heart is pounding in my chest and my body is trembling. "Ellie! Ellie! Help me, Ellie. He's going to kill me!" I sprint as fast as I can, trying to open every door along the way. I reach the end of the corridor, gasping the breath as the voice booms, louder and louder and more frantic. "Mom! Mom! I'm coming!"
