"No! No I won't. I'm, I'm strong. I-, I won't hurt them." I try to get the words out but my voice is trembling, quiet. There's a hand on my shoulder then, I turn around to look at the person holding me. It's my mother. We're in our hold apartment but she looks different. She looks sick. "Ellie. You're a monster. It's all your fault, Ellie." Her voice is strange, dark. She falls to the floor, dead. I scream and collapse to my knees beside her.
I'm in the compound now. The whole team is around me, in the kitchen. I reach out to touch Steve but he ignores me. Nat is beside him and they're all laughing. "God, I can't believe Ellie attacked you. I knew she was bad news. I'm glad she's gone. We don't ever have to look at her again." Nat raises her beer bottle and clinks it to Tony's. "Yeah, I can't believe she turned out to be so sick and twisted. I'm ashamed to call her my sister."
Steve laughs and nods. "I can't believe I shared my bed with her. She attacked me! She hurt me so bad. I'm sorry I ever met her." I open my mouth to speak but nothing comes out. I want to scream. I cover my eyes in my hands and feel the tears rushing down my cheeks. My head is pounding and my knees give way.
Howard Stark is kneeling beside me. His eyes are dark and his skin is pale. "Ellie. Ellie, you could have helped me. You could have stopped him. He killed me Ellie. He's a murderer." His face is starting to fade and I try to grab onto him. "What? What are you talking about? Howard, who killed you? Tell me!" I scream but he's gone.
I'm back in the room with Loki kneeling behind the glass in front of me. He looks sad, sympathetic. A flash of silver and red dart by my eyes. A woman with long auburn hair stands a few feet away from us. "This is her? This is what all the fuss is about?" She has a strong accent and she smiles, looking down at me. She walks over to the control panel on the wall and presses a button. Horror engulfs my paralyzed, numb body as the glass separating me and Loki slowly opens. The woman throws Loki his staff. He catches it, smirking and walks towards me. A deafening siren booms and it pierces my ears, sending a shock wave throughout my body, pulling me back to the room. It's not real. He's trying to trick me. Snap out of it, Ellie! This is what he does! The woman, she's fucking with your head. Fight it, fight God damn it.
I stare up at him, I'm broken. terrified and disgusted. His hands are holding either side of my face. His touch is soft. But, comforting and petrifying. "They're coming. We have to get out of here." The woman yells to Loki but he doesn't move. His grip tightens and he whispers into my ear; "Come with me, Ellie. You'll be safe with me. Happy. The Avengers will soon be no more and you can be free of them." Fear and anger plague me. He's going to kill them. I have to warn them, warn Steve. I have to help them.
I gaze into his eyes and try to act calm but my body is trembling again. I try not to show him. I want him to think he has me, that he's won. I nod and hold my hand out to his. He smiles and takes it, pulling me to my feet. He commands the red head to go and finish the plan. A young man appears beside her and picks her up, he winks at me and they disappear in a flash of silver light. Loki leads me towards the door but I will the energy inside me to work, to come to the surface. I raise my hands and a mass of blue light bursts from them, sending Loki hurtling through the air. He flies back and hits the wall twenty feet away. I sprint as fast as I can out of the door but I can hear him roar in frustration. I run down the corridor screaming for Steve. How could I be so fucking stupid! How could I let this happen!
I turn a corner and hit something solid, sending me crashing to the floor. I look up and tears of relief escape my eyes. "Steve!" I scramble to my feet and pull him into a tight hug. "Steve, Loki! He's escaped! He's going to kill us all, Steve, we have to warn the others! We have to fight." I peer into his eyes but he doesn't move. He stares down at me in disgust. "You've done it again. It's all your fault." His words cut me, I gasp in shock and grief. "Steve, what are you talking about? None of that was real. Loki was manipulating us, Steve. I'm so sorry I hurt you back there but we need to get to the others before they do." I try to grab his arm but he yanks it away. His hands are holding the tops of my arms now, squeezing hard. It hurts. He's scaring me. "Steve. Please. You're hurting me, Steve. Let me go." His grasp tightens and it makes me yelp in pain. "You've ruined everything. You should have never stepped foot in that compound. I'm sorry I ever met you. I wish you would just leave.  I don't love you, Ellie." He releases me and I tumble to the floor. I look at him as he walks away, down the corridor and disappears. My heart feels like it's been shattered.
"No! No please come back! Steve. I'm sorry. Please!" I can't breathe anymore. There's no air in my lungs. My eyes are getting heavy and I can't see. I'm sorry, Steve.
