"Breath. Russia, you got this," she murmured to herself before plunging deep into the water. Her glittering attire was seen shimmering. She held her breath and moved her body in the water, her graceful movements seemingly flawless. She poked her head put of the water and then used her arms to create a beautiful of intricate flower, woven with arms and legs. Her other teammates movements also flowed in the water. One of them lifted me up as I flew above the water, almost like flying fish. It was exhilarating and breathtaking for the performers and anyone watching. It was almost like ballet underwater. Before Russia knew it, the routine had come to an end and they stepped out of the water and took a bow.
The Chinese team was next.
"You can do this China. Just relax and breath," she told herself. Then, she dived head-first into the water.
China's team also swam gracefully in the water, but curled more like a Chinese Dragon than a flower's bloom. Their arms made beautiful waves to the sound of oriental music. As their lift came, the swimmer in the middle was lifted into a beautiful ark; toes curled, back bent in an arch, and the red and gold costume shimmering.
Both routines from the teams were stunning. However, only one team could win the gold. For this was the finals in their division. Only one could make it out on top. And for yet another year in a row, the ROC took the gold, China trailing just a few points behind. Both teams were congratulated and both were proud of their awards. Both teams were graceful in the water.
Part of my theory as to why the ROC team is so damn good with synchronized swimming, is because ballet is fairly popular there, I believe. And, like I hinted in the story, I think synchronized swimming and ballet are fairly close. With the added element of water of course. Just a theory. And yes, I said Russia in the beginning but ROC at the the end, because I have it to where Russia is on the team, but the ROC is who she's swimming for. I hope that makes sense. Anyways, I did another one of these, like I said I would!
