The knife slipped out of his hands, falling onto the hardwood tip first and sticking there. The vision was only there for a moment. But what a frightening moment it was. He hadn't meant to...

"SWEETHEART!? IS EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT!?" his wife yelled from the other room. He didn't answer. Footsteps landed lightly on the flooring as she skidded into the room.

"Honey?" she asked softly from behind him. She pulled him into a hug.

"I- sorry," he muttered.

"No baby, it's alright. But what's wrong? What happened?" she asked him, worrying about what the noise was.

"I-it's nothing... I just- it's nothing," he shook his head, mumbling false assurances.

"Now don't you give me that. I know for a fact that wasn't 'nothing'. I love you honeypie, but don't try and pull no wool over my eyes. I can't help ya if I don't know what's wrong."

"W-when I was cutting up the vegetables..."

"Darling it's fine, go one."

"I saw my hands covered in blood... A-and... John was on the table... Miriam, I just- he was my friend! And I just-!" he broke down into sobs before he could finish.

Miriam sucked in a breath.

"Liam, it's alright... shh, babe, it's alright..." she whispered as she pulled her lover into her embrace.

"It's alright..."

"I love you Miriam."

"Luv ya too, bunny."

"I miss John..."

"We both do."

"It was my fault."

"It wasn't. You ain't to blame for this sweet cheeks."

"..."

"Trust me, please?"

"...Alright. I'm glad I have you."
