"So now what?" Lynn asks. She sits on the edge of the building we're in. She sips from a bottle of water that we had in storage within the franxx's cockpit.
"We should use this city to our advantage," I say, "With this city, their mobility will be limited."
"And so will ours," Lynn states. "This'll just be something we have to overcome," I say.
I look around at the crumbling city. In the distance, I see a towering statue. A green lady, holding a torch above her head. Her other arm is nowhere to be found, the statue itself is fairly damaged.
"Let's head back down," I say. "They'll be here soon."
"How do you know?" Lynn asks. "The Princess told me that they're not far behind," I reply.
"The Princess tells you everything, doesn't she?" Lynn says, "And she ignores me."
"Well, that's how she is," I say.
"And what's up with that, when she called me a fake?" Lynn complains, "Couldn't possibly be because of our clones, is it? She doesn't treat you with hostility."
"Let's just say that I'd like to hear this from Dr. Franxx himself," I say, "That's why I won't say anything."
"So you know what she's talking about? Calling me a fake?" Lynn asks. "So I've been lying to you for a while. That's only because I don't know everything yet."
"I just don't want anything she says or I say to hurt you," I say.
"Well I'm already hurt now that you admitted you were lying to me for a while," Lynn pouts.
"Sorry," I say, "Let's go, we have a big fight ahead of us."
Lynn huffs. She takes my hand and walks beside me.
"I think I owe you more than an apology," I joke.
"Oh, you have no idea," Lynn purrs.
We climb back into our franxx and ready ourselves for the fight with our clones. In all honesty, their appearance was out of the blue. They're also a big threat to the Sanctuary if I let them be.
The best solution is to get rid of them as soon as possible.
We climb back into the cockpit of the Unicornius and take our positions. Once we get situated, we seem to pause and not start our connection.
"What, you want a pep talk or something?" I Jest.
"No, it's just," Lynn starts to mumble, "Is there no way we can save them?"
I sigh. "You were always so kind," I say, "That's something I love about you."
Stand up and walk towards Lynn. I sit on the edge of the pistil platform. "So, tell me what's worrying you," I say.
"It's not that I'm worried," Lynn replies, "I just want to know if there is a way to really save them."
"I don't think there is a way to save them," I huff, "It's not very obvious. Besides, they're adamantly trying to kill us."
"What if we die?" Lynn asks, "What'll happen to the Sanctuary if they find it."
"Then we just have to not die," I say, "Come on now."
I can't help but remember the past again. When I first met Lynn, she was full of worry like she is now.
She was once afraid to be thrown away by Papa. I showed her that she wasn't alone, and that I won't let her be thrown away.
