Chapter 8 - Light To The Shadow

"Well, what do we have here?"

There is only one person I know who has that voice.

"What a pitiful state you are in," The voice says condescendingly.

The clouds of smoke start to disperse, and the four franxx silhouettes become clearer.

A pristine white, the eyes glow blue, and spears in hand. There is only one franxx model that I know with a sleek build like that.

"Alpha," I groan.

The M9 Prime steps forward. "So this how you end up," Alpha says, "I would be killing you on sight if we ever crossed paths again."

"Heh, that's what I told you back then," I reply.

"And I thought the same thing," Alpha states, "But that isn't the case this time."

One of the other M9s steps forward. "Parasites of the black franxx," Delta says, "Papa has deemed you too dangerous to exist."

"So we're here to kill you," Gamma says.

Akira sighs, "You Nines are always so arrogant and full of pride."

The black franxx turns and faces the squad of four. "You're here to kill me? Don't make me laugh."

M9 Prime points it's lance forward. "Hopefully, you will be good practice for my next fight with Omega," Alpha states.

The black Unicornius lunges forward and swings wide at Alpha. The latter is ready for the attack and swings its spear, deflecting the sword strike.

Alpha follows up with a couple spins with its spear before slamming it down onto the head of the black Unicornius.

Delta comes in from the side and rams into the black franxx, knocking it to the side. Akira groans as he brings his franxx back up, landing on its feet.

From above, Gamma drops in and attempts to pierce his spear through Akira's Unicornius. Like a vanishing shadow, the black franxx disappears and dodges the attack causing Gamma's M9 to stab the ground.

The strike is not that weak as the impact created a small explosion and a crater below the franxx.

The black franxx uses this chance to swiftly perform a counterattack. The franxx shadow steps towards Gamma, and quickly delivers the blow to its chest.

Gamma, unable to react quick enough to the shadowy franxx, takes the blow and is sent reeling back.

Gamma's M9 recovers quickly from the blow then thrusts its spear towards its opponent.

Akira wastes no movement and his franxx shifts to the side, dodging the spear thrust. Gamma anticipated this. The M9 drops to a squat and extends its leg then knocks the black franxx off its feet with a sweeping kick.

Then M9 Prime lunges in and sends its knee into the face of Akira's franxx. Beta comes from the side and swings his spear downwards. The strike is missed as the dark Unicornius rolls out of the attack.

The black Unicornius takes flight and attempts to create distance from the M9s that attempt to surround them.

Akira attempts to formulate a plan within the short opening he has created, but is quickly interrupted.

An impact from the back sends the black franxx crashing down. From above, Delta laughs as her surprise attack from behind has succeeded.

Beta and Gamma tag team with each other as they take turns hitting the black franxx. Beta jumps and strikes from the right, putting Akira on the defensive. While the black franxx is occupied, Gamma comes in from behind with a wide swing with his spear.
