'Where have you two been?' Teased Tom raising his eyebrows.
'Probably up to no good knowing Nathan', Jay joined in.
'Guys stop, leave the poor baby alone', said Siva in his lovely Irish accent, a little exasperated with their constant joking around, not focusing.
'I'm gonna get you for that!' Nathan shouted, charging at Jay, letting go of Sarah's hand, who giggled.
They locked in a head tackle and all five boys ended up in a heap on the floor.
'Now boys don't hurt yourselves in front of your fans', warned Jayne, 'You guys must be sore, you've just been paint balling remember?! Or have you already forgotten?'
'Nope, I haven't forgotten', grinned Nathan, popping the 'p', walking back over to Sarah.
'There's a surprise. Wonder what they've been doing?' Jay laughed again, motioning at Nathan and Sarah, which started the other boys up again.
'Oi! Nicely!' Nathan replied. More laughter.
'Girls, this is what I have to put up with at every meeting we have. They just can't control themselves, it's like looking after five year olds!' Jayne explained to the girls.
'Sorry about that', Max apologised.
Nathan grinned sheepishly at sarah, giving her a hug, not letting go of her waist. Sarah put her hands on his chest.
'I think a need a hug Sarah, they attacked me for no reason', Nathan started flirting, which set everyone off laughing, and Sarah smiled, giggling, her hands still pressed against his chest. She was on cloud nine, and didn't care what any of the other girls thought. All she could think about was that she had spent the day with Nathan, they had almost kissed, and this made her pretty sure he liked her back. Even though he did often make out with girls at clubs, in his state of drunkenness, she put that out of her mind and focused on the here and now.
'Look at the two love-birds' said Tom setting them all off again, making Nathan turn red, embarrassed.
'At least he's found someone', spoke one of the girls, finding the courage to speak to her idols in front of everyone, 'He can stop being lonely now, while most of you have girlfriends. It must be hard for him, he's a 19 year boy, and hasn't had a girlfriend since the band was formed, he probably just needs a little bit of love'.
'Thank you very much. You are a girl with sense', Nathan thanked the girl, relieved. This made her smile with happiness and she looked away, probably melting inside.
'Boys, we need to get down to who won, take a few group photos and finish this day off,' Jayne reminded The boys. 'You need to get ready to go to America in one week, and we still need to sort a few things out'.
'Ok miss', replied Max, saluting, army fashion, making the others and the girls giggle again.
'Yeah, tell who us won then', replied Tom.
'Ok, well I can tell you Tom that you didn't win, as all of your team was shot, which you already know, so I'm not sure why you look so surprised.'
'Ha! In you face Tom! Who's laughing now?!' shouted Nathan with joy.
'Yes, Nathan, your team won, as you seem to have worked out' Jayne replied 'So well done to all of you on his team, you are today's paintballing champions.'
'That's only because no one could find Nath and Sarah though', Max tried to explain and make up excuses.
'Yeah they let us all do the hard work while they did goodness knows what. Which I am to disappointed that I still don't know what you were doing. And I died because I didn't have you to protect me this time', chipped in Jay.
'Actually, I'll have you know I killed Tom and two fans, sorry to whoever you were by the way. And I'm not telling you what we did, I'll see what your twisted, dirty little imagination can come up with over the next few days. And I was protecting Sarah today, so man up', Nathan replied, apologising to the girls he eliminated from the game, and teasing Jay back.
'Ok boys, stop it', warned Siva again.
'Aww, come on Siva Diva mate, have some fun', Max said, now teasing Siva, who rolled his eyes.
'Group photo time', Jayne interrupted before the joking got out of hand again.
Everyone arranged themselves, trying to get as close to their favourite band member, or as many of them, as possible. Nathan took Sarah's hand as they walked over and didn't let go, making sure she was by his side in the photo. They all smiled at the click of the camera, recording the moment in history, forever, a frame of time captured, remembered.
The fans dispersed, said their thanks and goodbyes, getting follows on twitter, signatures and individual photographs, and each collected a print out of the group photo. All the while, Nathan would not let Sarah leave his side, he didn't want her to get lost in the throng of people before he had a chance to talk to her.
'Sarah, I had an amazing time with you today' Nathan said, pausing 'I errr, ummm, really like you', he finished, stuttering.
Inside, Sarah was fluttering so much she felt she could be flying. Did Nathan Sykes, THE Nathan Sykes just say he liked her? True. Be yourself, don't over react she told herself.
'Today was one of the best days of my life. Thanks for protecting me', she replied, 'I really like you too', she smiled.
'I'm glad it was one of the best days of your life, it was one of the best days of mine too. I don't want to lose you, I had to protect you', Nathan continued, awkwardly, blushing, 'Please could I have your number?'
'Sure, that would be great', Sarah beamed excitedly, controlling herself so she didn't jump up and down like a crazed lunatic in front of him. She would save that for later when she got home and met up with Charlotte to tell her all about the days magical events. It would need a sleepover for sure, to tell her everything in detail. She was going to be speechless when she heard, which was a rare occurrence for Charlotte, as she always had something to say, or was trying to turn everything into a joke. Charlotte was good at telling really bad jokes, but struggled at understanding other people's jokes. Sarah controlled herself as she give Nathan her number, and he text her his.
They stood hugging and chatting until Sarah's mum arrived, conveniently late from work. Nathan squeezed her and kissed her on the cheek before letting go of her and walking her over to her mums car. Sarah said goodbye to the other boys and got them to follow Charlotte on twitter (she'd go mental when she found out) while Nathan introduced himself to Sarah's mum. No doubt he'd get teased about everything as soon as her car turned the corner.
They hugged one last time, and as Sarah got in the car, Nathan said 'I'll text you soon, miss you already', and smiled as she said bye back.
Sarah drove off, and he watched her car until it disappeared.
