Nathan started to worry, it had been twenty minutes since Sarah had left, and she said to look for her after ten.
He got up and found Jay, who was all over some other girl in a corner. Nathan was disgusted. He spent all that time arguing his way into his date, and he didn't even spend, as he had called it, his part of the date with Sarah. Fair enough, it was Nathan who had forced him to become so hammered, but he knew something like this would have happened anyway; it normally did. He decided to take a risk and interrupt their... Passionate... Embrace.
'Jay, have you seen Sarah?'
'No, thought she was with you. She was your date, remember.' Nathan sighed and shook his head. Some help he was. He was totally wasted.
Nathan decided to check out back, as she had said she wanted some fresh air, and when he spotted sight of her, he was nearly sick, but quickly overcome with rage. She screamed, calling his name.
'Oi! Get off her!' Nathan yelled, pulling the man away from an extremely upset Sarah.
'Who do you think you are?' The man shoved him.
Nathan said very firmly 'Her boyfriend.'
Sarah looked at him with wide eyes when he said this and she was overwhelmed with butterflies; love. Then she gasped as the man punched Nathan in the gut, or tried to. Nathan managed to dodge just in time. 'Who do you think you are?'
'A man who desperately wants your girl for the night.'
Nathan looked at him, disgusted, before quickly but gently taking her hand and making them both run back inside to get lost in the crowd, before the creep could follow and find them.
He took Sarah to sit down and tried to calm her down as her distraught tears snaked slowly down her face. Luckily her makeup was waterproof, so she didn't end up looking like she was dressed up for Halloween... Too much. Just a little bit of black here are threre. No one would notice in the clib. Nathan gently stroked each tear away with his thumb as they fell from her eyelids.
When she wouldn't stop shaking he pulled her onto his lap and stroked her long locks, soothing her. Eventually she stopped crying and sniffled, burying her face into his chest.
'Everything's ok now Sarah. Everything's ok. I've got you. You'll always be safe with me, I'll never hurt you.' Nathan soothed.
'Thank you for coming for me Nathan. Thank you. I- I- I was- It was just so-'
'I know, I know.' Nathan said calming her down once more. 'Scary. Frightening. I know. I really want to go and punch him, give him a piece of my mind. Who would even dare think to touch you like that?'
Sarah just threw her arms around him and made herself be as close to him as she could, as close to his safety as possible. Nathan hugged her right back. After they had sat there for a while, Nathan decided to take her mind off things, he still hadn't done what he wanted to do, and he needed to get her back soon.
'I'm sorry if he ruined your night.' Nathan apologised.
'No, he didn't, don't worry. You're not the one who should be apologising anyway. I'm with you now and that's all that matters. Where's Jay?'
Nathan smiled at Sarah's first comment and then when she mentioned Jay, his eyes narrowed a little bit. 'Last time I saw him he was sticking his tongue down some other girls throat.' This was actually what he had wanted, but he'd never admit to it, he didn't think he'd actually do it if Sarah was here, if he really cared about her that much. Apparently, he didn't. He just wanted an excuse for a night out was the only explanation Nathan could think of.
