They both jumped about a foot away from eachother.

'Erm...' Nathan said awkwardly.

'What did I just see?' Sarah's dad asked.

'Dad! What are you doing home so early?' Sarah attempted to save Nathan, as her dads comment was mainly directed at him.

'More importantly, what were you two just doing?' Her dad ignored her question by asking another of his own, making Sarah's efforts at keeping the awkwardness away useless.

'Erm...' Nathan repeated, his awkwardness shining blindingly through; it was that obvious.

'Were you kissing?' He said the word 'kissing' incredulously, as if it was an alien action which two teenagers shouldn't be doing.

'Dad!' Sarah interjected, now feeling rather awkward herself.

'Well, we're you?'

'Errrr, yes?' Sarah replied.

'Why?' he questioned again, he had fired question after question after question at them in the space of a few antagonisingly long minutes. he was somewhat shocked at how fast their relationship seemed to be moving - and hoped it wouldn't move any faster, Sarah was only 16. However, he may have been being a little old-fashioned, things happened differently in the modern day.

Nathan interjected this time, 'Errr, well, I err, really like Sarah.'

'Yes. It's obvious that you have taken quite a liking to my daughter already, as I just witnessed.'

Sarah groaned and Nathan just stood there a little embarrassed. 'Daaaddd!'

'Sorry princess. I just had to say it.'

Sarah groaned again.

'Dad, please just drop it. What did you need anyway?'

'Right.' Sarah's dad saw reality and realised that his daughter was actually in an affectionate relationship now, and that she wasn't 'his little girl' anymore. She was 16 and growing up. He let it go, much to Sarah's delight (Nathan's), and said what he had come to say, 'I go away for a couple of days for work remember? So I've come to pack my bags and then go to the airport. '

'Oh yeah. I'm gonna miss you!' Sarah said with a sudden change of mood, dispersing the tension in the atmosphere.

'Yeah, I'll miss you too sweetie.' Her dad turned to Nathan. 'Well, I guess it was good to see you Nathan.'

Nathan cleared his throat. 'Yes, good to see you again too.' Nathan was a little confused at his sudden change of mood, but wasn't complaining.

'Anyway. Sarah, your mum wants you downstairs, you need to leave.'

'Ok. Bye dad. See you in a couple of days.' She gave him a hug.

Her dad left the room. They both breathed a sigh I relief, followed shortly by a 'hmph' from Nathan.

'Whats wrong?' Sarah asked.

'Your dad called you princess. You're my princess.' At this, Sarah bubbled up inside. She felt all warm and gooey, most people call it butterflies. She got them everytime she was close to him, but when he said that it was just so cute, they filled her stomach. She felt she had so many she could fly away at any time if she needed to.

'Awww, does that mean you're my prince?'

'If you want me to be.'

'Of course I do.' Sarah smiled and quickly pressed her lips against his before taking his hand and leading him out of her room.
